also the synths and the melody on the guitar in the background, you bearly hear these on the studio recording. these in.ear mixed are awesome to discover more details
@@jamesdavies6342 this seems like a pretty natural sound. I'm guessing the triggers are to change the tone for some of their more electronic sounding songs
Love this view! The groove on the hi-hats second verse mixed with the splash cymbals gives me chills every single time! Such good writing and complimentary of the vocals.
@@fbnplrm Let us see if you follow along and play well with others. The ongoing playlist includes Rush, Tool, Slipknot, Dimmu Borgir, Sakis Tolis, Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, Gothminister, Wolf Alice, Slaughter to Prevail, Euliviete, Katatonia, anything from the 80s, 70s, 60s etc. Be well! Vessel II is still the best musical drummer out there!
@PatrickWitherow damn I bet that's beautiful! I can't afford that, but I have been looking heavily into the xist series and I think the brilliant 20" ride is gonna be my first Istanbul agop purchase. Hopefully soon because I'll have the money soon.
@@pickletarts8196I saw what you did there, honestly would be nice if they did introduce another guitar player as a member Vessel-Vox II-Drums III-Bass IV-Guitar V-Guitar
That's a percussive piece he uses at the start I haven't seen before. And, I thought his name was iL, capital 'i', lower case 'l'. He's '2', roman numeral II, oh, now we know. Moody marching number, mr. II
haha I thought so too - each member is known as a Vessel of the band, due to their lore - simple answer is they are all called Vessel (Vessel 1, 2, 3, 4) , but singer is just Vessel and the others go by roman numerals, II on Drums, III on Bass and IV on guitar. Solid band and amazing drumming for sure. Check out his Drumeo feature if you are interested in more of his playing technique
@@Ghost-bq9flway to be a real ass hat. Nobody asked and some people enjoy the mystery (including the band themselves). Why not let those who want to know do the research and not ruin it for everyone else?
II is no doubt a great drummer. Hard to really fault him anywhere EXCEPT, my biggest critique of him, which is what vast majority of drummers do and that is use the kick a tad too much. If he would skip a few beats here and there, it would create a bit more space between snare hits and cymbal accents that imo would go a long way, especially in a song like Chokehold that in general has lots of space to begin with, instead of constantly flooding that space with a kick note, if that makes sense.
Not sure if you're kidding or not but II actually mentioned Royster as an influence along with other gospel drummers in his drumeo interview so good ear!
@@mattpatt199 Possibly. However he doesn't seem to be doing a lot more than most decent prog rock drummers. He can't hold a candle to drummers like Larnel Lewis and Benny Greb
It's probably tuned up high - but the shell itself might have a low and/or dry pitch naturally. So you get the best of both worlds - lots of crack/pop but with body.
