Fellow metal scholars, Jaws is a phenomenal song with insightful lyrics. I delved into the possibility of an empath-bully relationship, where one wants to be loved and the other is abusive. It's a song about provocation. It's beautiful and delicate, yet there's a moment where the delicate stops and the song gets djenty and powerful. I hope you like the video! Please let me know in the comments what you think. I used the footage from the Jaws video, but according to Sleep Token Luke, this video was shot to be played along Nazareth and that makes total sense. One of my favorite ST songs with lyrics that send you flying down a rabbit hole! Every time I listen to it, I come up with a different interpretation. Part of Vessel's genius as it resonates with everybody on a deep, personal level. I love your analyses and enjoyed you singing the lyrics this time. I love Albert Camus and L'Étranger has been one of my favorite books for a long time!

I still can’t decide if I think this is from Vessel’s perspective or Sleep’s. If it’s Vessel, is it to Sleep or the lost lover. The line about stained glass def makes one think of a church or other place of worship.

Sometimes I do feel the same way, sorrowsmuse, but either perspective will always have Vessel as the rhapsode, the storyteller. But it's interesting to try and picture who's the main subject behind the stream of consciousness :)

Ok so... I actually interpret this as the perspective from a THIRD character that's not Vessel or Sleep: the Ex-Lover. The scene in the mv depicts her murder, and Jaws is her swan song to him before he murders her in the heat of his/Sleep's passion and pleasure. Her white flag before the detonation after the love bomb is dropped, so to speak.

Ooooooh I like this theory as it would make sense as to why this video also works with Nazareth which is (potentially) about the murder of the third character or ex-lover. Great theory.

@@batterib I have been watching Alex's videos in order so naturally seeing his next dissection being The Way That You Were and reading through some of the comments there it made this theory fit even more since Jaws and TWTYW were released as singles with TWTYW being the B side to Jaws I think both of those are from this third person perspective.

@@brytheheretic omg I completely forgot about TWTYW!!! I actually think it’s a funeral for Vessel’s innocence/ past self, as well as the funeral for lover. But yes, it all makes sense!

@@batterib I wouldn't have put it together if it wasn't for your comment. I love reading people's theories about the lore as it really shows how open to interpretation all their songs really are. It would be cool to get an official lore breakdown from Vessel eventually. I think it would also make for a great book/graphic novel should he go that route.
