My first born I was blessed with his easy sleep training. My second was a different story. separation anxiety, bed wetting & waking up in middle of night. I tried everything under the sun both old school & new school advice. Nothing worked until we put music on and he was out within 15 minutes. Thinking it was a fluke we tried the next night and there on after. Worked every time. Added it to our night time routine while they are in tub and they are out in 20 minutes after tub. Some babies can take the swaddles, ferber method and etc (my first one did) but just in case of despair dont count out music. Hope this helps as well as your video.
Thank you for this video! I love it when moms prioritize the health and well-being of other moms and both parents. Wish I knew more about proper baby sleep hygiene when our boy was younger!
It is not recommended to sleep train babies younger than 3 months because they don't typically sleep through the night. They have caloric needs that can't be met by skipping feeding for 12 hours.
Thank you! Yes! I worked on feeding them a lot those first 6 weeks so they gain weight (I wake them every 1-2 hours as newborns). I mention that I always check with their doctor before trying to stretch them at night. Mine have always been in the 90th percentile for weight by 6 weeks old which has helped.
Baby is only 6 weeks old !? Mums out there: this is NOT old enough for sleep training. Its completely normal for a baby at this age to need parents, feeds at night, comfort and so on. Sleep training can start around 5 months
Exactly! You can START sleep training while doing all of those things. If you watch my method, I go back in for night feeds as long as he needs it (usually at 10pm), get weight checked and night-time sleep approved by the doctor before starting, and then the baby is up around 6 or 7am. I also partially rock to sleep before setting down in their OWN room (not cry it out which is why I love this method) and go in if they cry to rock to help back to sleep...please watch the video before commenting misinformation :)
@@GabrielaTerese all fine, but there will be new mums out there maybe only reading the title. And the title clearly states „sleep training my 6 week old to go 12 hours at night“. Might be misleading… as normally it is too young for babys to sleep through the night for a longer period (lets say for weeks or months). Yes, there might be the honey moonnphase around two months and also there might be some babies who can do it without problems, but the majority will need some night feedings a bit longer that week 6
@@GabrielaTerese anyway good for you that it worked well and you did the sleep training nicely without CIO. 💙 my comment wasnt against you or your situation
I don’t like videos like this because every baby & family is different. & people who are seeking information will blindly listen to this stuff & think it’s correct. I personally wouldn’t be comfortable with my baby not eating for that long, that young. They are also so emotionally fragile. Building that trust in the beginning is so important. I would sacrifice sleep, house work etc. for my babies comfort..but I’m a SAHM so maybe that’s the difference. There’s a time & place for “sleep training” but 6weeks is NOT it.
I totally agree that every family situation is different. But you can START some "sleep training" early on. If you watch my video, my idea of sleep training is helping them learn to sleep not abandoning them at night. I go back in for night feeds as long as he needs it (usually at 10pm), get weight checked and night-time sleep approved by the doctor before starting, and then the baby is up around 6 or 7am so really only doing 8 hours. I also partially rock to sleep before setting down in their OWN room (not cry it out which is why I love this method) and go in if they cry to rock to help back to sleep so never neglected. My babies were always in the 90% percentile ;)
This is ridiculous. Newborn gets hungry every few hours (3-4hours) also their diaper gets full by 3-4hours . Why would you want your newborn to sleep in their wet diaper for 12hours. Let put it this way would you want to sleep in your menstrual pad for 12hrs?
