Love watching a "first timer" react to this movie.😂😂 I got exposed to it at 5 in 1986 (i'm 42 lol) Needless to say i had nightmares for awhile, my big bro wanted to be a dick and he rewound the tape back and i had to see the ending multiple times😂😂😂

April Fools Day....even when I was 11 this pissed me off.

I think it showed the scene with the dad because being with a boy reminded Peter of seeing his dad with a guy.

the sequel tried to make sense of that. saying it was Aunt Martha's husband with Angela's dad

In the original movie, the other man was Aunt Martha’s brother-in-law. Her husband had already left her when she got custody of Peter and groomed him into becoming Angela. The movie is actually pretty progressive. Peter and Angela spy on their two dads having sex and presumably play post office later. Peter knows that boys and girls are biologically different and his aunt is insane to think that she can just dress up Peter to become Angela. If you like this plot twist, check out A Reflection of Fear (1972) with Sondra Locke.

And being forced to live as his deceased Sister! That is trauma level +11! Also, I can't call Angela as a transgender person, since she/he/they was forced to be someone who's not!

She even grew up around the LGBT + community but when she read the script. She was like okay it's about a boy being both physically and mentally abused to the extreme level by his aunt Martha. She talks about it on a audio commentary on the Shout/ Scream Factory Collector's Edition of Sleepaway Camp. People that are transgender chose to be the opposite gender an go by a different name. Willingly by their own free will that makes them transgender. If someone doesn't choose to be the opposite gender or go by another name. If that is forced upon them against their free will. Then it's called physically and mentally abused. So since Peter never willingly gave up his name or gender. It was taken from him by force by his Aunt Martha it is called physically and mentally abused. That was the writer an directors idea to show a extreme case of child abuse. He says it on the audio commentaries for the movie so he thought. What would be the worst case of child abuse one can think of them it hit him. Having some being forced to live as someone else against their will. Then when he was writing the movie he had the idea of a boy being forced not only of being forced to live as someone else. But someone of a completely different gender to make the abuse worse for one thing. Then for the shock value of the reveal that is an was the plan of the movie from the start. But seriously on the audio commentary Felissa Rose an the writer and director say. They have no idea when the transgender thing was added to it. Because the movie clearly shows an says a young boy Peter was both physically and mentally abused. By his aunt Martha until he snapped an started to kill people that wronged him. They used the characters name Angela because that was the characters name. But they never say what's wrong with her they always say whats wrong it Angela. So they never bring up anything transgender in the audio commentaries. They always refer to Peter as a boy that proves there's nothing about anything transgender in this movie.
