QUESTION: I have always wondered this and have never figured it out. Why do people's voices in the 80's and 70's sound different than present day? Is it because of the audio used during those decades? I think about this more than I should.

I've noticed it, too. It may be speech pattern? Kind of like how in most black and white movies no one interrupts each other. May also have to do with sound design and how we never really shushed out background noise until the 90s.

No not necessarily, movie executives who think horror = gore (now it's horror = jump scare) are the reason why most modern horror films suck. There doesn't need to be gratuitous blood and gore to have a movie get under your skin and stay there. Not to mention there are sub genres within horror i.e psychological horror, horror thriller, horror sci-fi, etc. Horror movies like The Ring, Rosemary's Baby, 1974's Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, the Shining have minimal to no gore and yet they're all considered horror classics. It's about creating a macabre atmosphere, the overwhelming feeling of utter helplessness as characters realize that death is inevitable. (Sorry for the long comment horror has been my favorite genre since I was 8)

It's funny and kinda sad how Angela went from a traumatized kid that killed and attacked people for bullying her or genuinely doing bad things, to this massive prude that kills over almost nothing. That and, how she went from stealthy, practical kills that were hard to trace to any one person, to these cartoonish over-the-top executions that not only would be impossible to pull off, but would get her caught immediately. Like driving a Mack truck into an alleyway to kill a random girl

Two years too late but all the names in this one are still references to other things. Herman and Lily are the Munsters and there are several Brady Bunch (like Greg, Marsha) and West Side Story (like Riff, Tony, Maria) names.
