A friend of mine had a golf mk1 with a mk5 gti engine, in first 3 gears he had the power limited to 240 bhp/400 nm and from 4th to 6th it was 290bhp and max torque. Idk if that can be mapped into the older 1.8 20vt ecu's but if it's possible these cars will definitely benefit from such a system! Great video like always, thanks again!
this cars may not worth a lot for most people, but for us who grew up watching them on the streets and dreaming of owning them they are worth everyhing , plz keep this vids up, as much as we like watching 1000+hp drag races but this kind of cars is what made us petrolheads in the first place.
But they are worth a lot, lot's of fun and many of us here could/did build a sub 1ton car with moderate amount of power making them quite very fun. Maybe out a limb here, but I dare to make a bet that a clear majority in here cannot afford a 1000+hp car anyway, whether buying or building cause not exactly cheap or easy to squeeze 1k hp out of any typical 2l family saloon, hatch, whatever, or a 3l one for that matter.
I think the mk2 with slicks or pilots would have a better 0-60 the 1st n 2nd gear is all it needs u need 3 in the 6speed box but what a cracking race 🏁

Such a gigantic pity that y'all didn't get all the MK1 variants we got in South Africa untill 2008-2010 we have fully facelifted MK1 Golfs in South Africa that's 1.4i , 1.6i and some 1.8i that makes more power then the MK1 GTI from factory it's called Volkswagen Golf VeloCiti , CitiRox , and so on definitely a favourite here in South Africa

These videos would be better if they followed Car Wows structure, most people just wanna watch the drag race, and a lot of times there's some sick cars on the video and I just don't watch it because I know I'm gonna have to search for the drag race in the middle of 20 minute video. They don't even have time stamps.
I could hit 60 in my mk3 vr6 in second gear. I noticed they all had to change into 3rd to hit 60........are the transmissions geared different for a vr6?

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. " Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" in German. :-((((
Uk people you know url can purchase a Golf 1 2009 model from South Africa..with the exchange rate of the rand and pound it wouldn't even cost alot..most of the modern Vw Citi Golfs(mk1) comes with 1.6i Mp9 about 75kw nippy..though we love fitting 1.8T 20v and 2.0 8v motors with 288° cams..
3 of the best cars in my opinion, mk1 would be the one I choose only cos I've got a mk1 golf there super light but not too light, the jetta has the power thats why it was better on the rolling start if he had it detuned a lil bit for 1st and 2nd gear and thn all the sauce for the rest of the gears it would be a rocket 🚀 💥🔥💥🔥💨💨💨💯💯👋👋👋👌👌🤣🤣. The mk2 let its self down by having cheap and nasty ditch finder tyres so it wasn't able to put the power down 🙄
Fuck this brings back memories. Had 3 mk4 jettas a 2.slow a 1.8t ko4 frankentubo unitronic stage 3+ and a wagon 1.8t ko3s stage 2. Used to love the frankenturbo holding 25psi till past stock redline
This is way better than usual German Golf R’s etc that are dull and ten a penny. Proper enthusiasts cars that have been built by knowledgable folk not just bought on finance remapped. Proper cars these.
@@MrRey007 Upgrade the differential. Softer compound tire, get them heated up, 225 width. Shift early or change your gear ratios. Upgrade engine management for boost by gear. Not an easy fix.
Good battle the 20v turbo has a huge following great engine easily tuned, I've just shared to the 1.8t Facebook pages I'd like to see how my caddy would compare against these.
