For perhaps the first time ever, I just realized that I love songs with obsessive, repetitive melodic patterns. For instance, I love "Heads Will Roll," partly because the main melody is so excitingly repetitive, with the same note played repeatedly for a full bar or two. The repetitiveness of the tune is drilling itself into my mind, giving a sense of power. And perhaps the same goes for Sleepwalker. At 0:20, you hear the repetitive, rhythmic tune in the bass clef. Same three or four notes played again and again. The repetition suggests either power, anxiety, or both. It demands to be listened to.
