I'm about to watch my steelbook tonight. I haven't seen this film since it came out in theaters. I remember being really excited for it and then not being that impressed by it at the time when I actually saw it. Hopefully time will have improved my opinion. I probably wouldn't have bought it except that I thought the steelbook looked really cool (and it is).

I got the 4k steelbook of this bad boy from walmart for 2.19 when I pre ordered back in June. Some glitch with the price matching and surprisingly my order didn't get canceled! Between that, the it follows set, the green planet and weird science, I dunno what to watch first!

Thank you Ken for a spooky informative video as always I went to my local Best Buy for the steelbook Edition all I can say is wow unfortunately it is in 5.1 master audio. I would’ve preferred Atmos or DTSX but the picture makes up for it thank you 🙏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had a good feeling that Sleepy Hollow would look great in 4K and boy did it ever. The color pallet looked amazing given how unique it always was and the sound was just as good. Definitely one of the best of 2023.

I was lucky enough to ask Best Buy to check in the back for the last Steelbook last Tuesday. You are right about the picture quality. Its fucking crazy deep black and reds. True reference material cheers!

I had to drive out to Best Buy in Coeur d’Alene, ID almost an hour away from where I live in WA to get the steelbook yesterday. But it’s a sweet steelbook, so it was worth it.

The guy that plays the Headless Horseman (Christopher Walken did not play most of the action scenes) is Ray Park -- the same guy that played Darth Maul.

Tim Burton's attempt at making a Hammer film, underlined by Christopher Lee being the one who sends Ichabod to Sleepy Hollow is absolutely gorgeous and dripping with atmosphere. It's worth seeing just to appreciate the imagery. Also, it's my favorite Depp performance. I love how he turns Ichabod into a heroic fraidy-cat, especially his habit of ducking behind anyone else for cover. And at one point he's even using his kid sidekick as a human shield. Oh and Christopher Walken as the Horseman is all the recommendation you need to watch it!

It's a fantastic transfer i agree and I wish they would have added an Atmos track but the sound is great. The Dolby vision really helped the blacks and whites and it was excellent

Bought this one today, like you I’ve always loved this movie. Love the creepy atmosphere, the investigation, detective kinda story. Jonny is one of my favorite actors too. I remember back in the day, Game Stop had a headless horse man figure with the horse and him with the pumpkin in his hand. Was awesome but I think I trade it later at some point which I regret now.

I think fans of this movie would also like the Disney animated short from 1949, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It's only about a half hour but it's one of my favorites. In fact, I'm going to have to look for a copy of that.... EDIT: Looks like this hasn't been released since VHS days.

Agreed! This film gets better with age. It’s actually an homage to the Hammer Horror films of the 60’s-70’s. Even Christopher Lee (Dracula) makes an appearance as a judge. And that musical score by Danny Elfman is absolutely incredible! It’s one of his best. Listen to the finale that brings in all the different themes and instruments. They use it all the time for music in movie trailers. I loved it so much that I bought the limited recording sessions 3 disc set. I also have Elfman’s signature on my Sleepy Hollow (Headless Horseman) teaser poster.

Saw this in the cinema back in the day Ken. T.Burton at his finest. I prefer the slip to the steel-book. Johnny Depps finest performance for me would be when he played real life smuggler George Jung in the movie Blow with Penelope Cruz.

Was lucky enough to pre order the steelbook before it sold out. The 4k really does look great. My favorite Depp films would have to be Edward Scissorhands and Blow. Vudu has Edward Scissorhands on 4k now so hopefully that will be coming to physical soon. Fingers 🤞

I streamed this recently and couldn't help but notice that you could see the black paint on the Horseman's teeth, minor thing I know but it did bother me, hope they fixed it but it's probably more noticeable...

even though it doesn't have Atmos this 5.1 is a new and improved mix, at least to my ears when I compared them the dialogue sounds more even and clear.

I think a lot of these releases don't have new special feature because it comes down to money. New special features means paying more to produce them and paying more for new interviews with talent.

The picture was definitely better than the bluray but it’s definitely not anywhere close to a reference disc. 3.5/5 borderline 4/5. This is the first time I’ve strongly disagreed with your review. The picture quality has alot of noticeable DNR in certain scenes. It’s nowhere near the best of boutique label transfers

For us Canadians no slip cover even or digital 😢😡 Why does paramount not even give us a damn slip cover? We didn't get one for John wick 4 either. Wonder why this is just starting to happen here, we get no digitals anymore at least I haven't from Warner, Paramount, Universal and they all used to give digitals . Not that i care that much but it's cool to have a nice collection on the side but the no slip is just crazy Paramount Canada sucks or whoever distributes their movies here.

ken, i like the movie its just it seems like there are certain parts of the movie that are a little too intense for people burton couldve benefited from doing a completely seperate version of sleepy hollow that was more PG-13 Toned down meaning they focused less on the horseman, and more on ichabod and katrina there are other interpretations of sleepy hollow that have less and less to do with the horseman and more on ichabod, in a good way but it all has to do with what kind of audience it reaches but christopher walken in the movie is interesting

Sleepy Hollow was ok but far from great. My Top 5 Burton: 1. Ed Wood 2. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure 3. Beetlejuice 4. Batman 5. Nightmare Before Xmas (He didn't direct it, but I'll still give him credit for it).

Christopher walken is miscast. Not scary. The mystery is not the best. However the setting and atmosphere is incredible, so on the whole it’s one of the greatest films ever made.

I cannot stand Beetlejuice and have never sat through it so I'm not looking forward to the sequel either. Sleepy hollow was so strange that I believed you needed to be stoned in order to see it and I don't smoke pot.
