I mostly just like the Power of Friendship concept of Prince. Prince does have some unorthodox combos with some other rarely picked characters - the "add selfheal/shield" side from Keeper/Wraith/Enchantress(lol)/Presence can be applied to a regular damage side and that fulfills 3 conditions of Unite for 2 dices. Twins(lol) may also roll one blank and one 1dmg self-heal side to fulfill 3 out of 4 conditions. I think it's the blank requirement that's keeping Prince down, that one alone requires one whole other dice - if it was just the attack/shield/heal pip requirement Prince might have been playable..
I think if the prince replaced the blank side with mana side in "unite" It would be much better since 1it'll ban him in the force part, witch is good since he allready strugled to get a heal side from them and the force party typically out dmgs the unite or not over kill it 2.Also managain side is more valuable than blank since it easier to work around it get things from it, you alwais will get value from it if you cant proc the tactic wereas blank just does nothing and alwais forces you to have one party member take the blank risk 3. Themarically it also makes a lot more sence I mean who tf is doing nothing (blank) in a tactic that combines power of friendship At least with mana you can see that the wizard now unite with you so yellow/orange, grey, red and blue unite to deal dmg Instead of some blank user doing nothing and somehow contributing to that 15 dmg... Side note add mana shield to one of the blank sides of the prince for mpre consistency and another way to contribute to the tactic
the problem with using add self heal/self shield to damage is that you're still spending a total of 3 dice on unite, the add + the damage + the blank, if you could ever consistently get him to cast it with 2 it'd be broken, but at 3 it's a tough sell
There are some situations where you can get Self heal self shield on a single attack dice, or you can roll Twin. In those cases Prince is strong. Otherwise I would rate him as weird or fine, he helps a lot to cover up bad dice on tier 2 units mostly. I find that I will have 1-2 tier 2 units I need to keep either for synergy, or because my items really want a specific tier 3 in their color. In those situations Prince will just get you through the fights leading up to the bosses, and often kill the second to last boss. Not really useful on the last one though because tier 3 units don't really have X's.
I know this was not the point of the video, but I wanted to mention: Captain’s formation is…. SUPER fun in raid games. I know during raid games, when captain shows his face that sh*t’s about to get real. :)
Maybe Tainted ahould bring the "yellow curse/blessing" (idk how it is called, but you get what i am talking about). -> or maybe get a +1 to all his sides (but this might cause him to be an early power house)
Even if he gives you a random tweak he’s still absolutely unpickable. A good 30% of the tweaks will completely brick your run. Also buffing his sides wouldn’t be meaningful. Doesn’t make up for him randomly making your run unplayable. If he gave a 2 point curse he would be much more pickable.
@@willw5868 if he has a random 4 point curse he is to risky if you are going for a win-streak. From a casual player standpoint: He isn't interesting enough to deal with an annoying curse. But a yellow curse could be very fun to get - so it might fix him for casual play. But I agree, from try hard perspective getting a 4 point curse is unpickable
Very minor thing, but Dancer actually did get a very slight buff - her basic attack was a 3 in 2.0, and got buffed to a 4 in 3.0. Minor difference but it helps her hit the break point better, even if it's less relevant now
This is down to the disclaimer of playing Basic/Cisab/Force a lot, but once you dip your feet into the magical comps, I'm sure you'll appreciate damage reds more. I'd reorganize basically all the reds in this list if I were the one making it, since the playstyle of red-grey-green comps differs soooo much.
So Jumble and Dice's passive don't affect items, but it does affect the sides from curses, so Jumble and Dice get even better with Caltrops as they can nullify them naturally, and recently I had a Jumble win Hexia for me on a right blank curse run when the right blank turned into an undying side
I think roulette is actually more consistent in the update. If you have any kind of tactic which can use her die, you can just play that tactic instead of having her die. Captain enables her really well for instance. Forsaken in weird tier is pretty unforgivable ngl. All the sides are good, very consistent, strong spell. Yeah she doesn’t offer much mana but she never dies and has good healing + damage. Revive side and bind can get you out of some rough situations as well.
@@Voyixyeah it’s mainly captain. I guess prince sometime as well. Lol. But between a lot of the t2 greens with tactics and especially knight I find myself picking roulette as an early t3 many times. It’s a little risky, but between captain valk and surgeon if you pick smart its very likely that you can convert into good support for her.
This is a good video to explain why I also mostly play force. "There are like 8 reds and the good ones cast burst. Also maybe sometimes they do other stuff." That is... less than super exciting.
Shaman actually did get a buff in 3.0, and because of that I think he should be higher on the list. His spell went from 4 mana to 3 mana. IMO It’s unplayable at 4 mana but for 3 mana I think it’s actually quite strong. Hard counters some of the most dangerous sides in the game, like dragon poison and inevitable exert. If you have decent a decent mana generator to pair with him shaman is the most consistent source of cleanse in the game, which is super valuable late game. I think if u pick him this version you’ll be pleasantly surprised how useful the buffed spell is
I think forsaken is excellent. Having answers to aoe damage and single target damage and something good on turn 1 is a huge upgrade from 2.0 where she barely had 1 of those things. She does pair badly with warlock, but the 3 mana is a great weaver breakpoint.
fair, lots of good prince characters there and he's good at rolling the x for unite, idk on paper 3 dice = 15 damage seems good, but it never feels like it works out
I don't know how good this is, but this is how I'd buff Fencer specifically: Dodge goes to rightmost and his X becomes another "1 damage to all". Then replace the Pristine keyword on the 3-damage side with Duel (more thematically fitting and will trigger more often)
I think characters like brawler and forsaken might be good for knight. They cover two requirements already with their 3-pip damage sides and with (respectively) self-heal/self-shield on those sides (+ blank) they can make 2 dice unite for value ~6 damage per dice
I think Bash is F teir. He has killed so many of my runs. The heavy sides can ginormously screw you versus opponent sets that need you to control adds (particularly bosses with Quartz and Slate). It's very common for the game to present you with a situation where he only has one playable side. I've lost at least three 5+ game streaks to randoming into Bash (most recently in a Hard run where I had 3rd turn Grave curse versus Basalt, and got stuck with a team of Bash and Ace with no opportunity to get cleave or ping/cantrip. Ugh, so gross.)
i think this is not an outlandish take, his heavy 5s are pretty lackluster, though he is really good at holding serration which is a fairly minor boon all things considered. exert 7 is nice and the steel side is good value if you have to play around it but he's definitely not my first pick for yellow
I'm assuming that a lot of people who think tainted is good are people who don't streak the game. It's something I've noticed in the binding of isaac community too where a lot of people think tainted keeper is S tier, but I disagree because he's a glass cannon character, and glass cannon characters are way more susceptible to bad luck. I don't care if tainted keeper can steamroll 90% of runs, because if its easier to die in that unlucky 10% compared to other characters, then that means those other characters are better for streaking. So tainted in slice and dice is like that. They could change him so that 90% of the time he gives you a blessing and he would still be borderline unclickable for a streak. It doesn't matter if you get a blessing and win 90% of the time because if you click tainted every time for the blessing, you'll eventually get a bad curse and die, so it's better to just not click him. The situation for picking tainted is when you are on a bad run that you expect to lose. At that point, getting a bad curse won't make a difference since you would have died anyway, and if you get an ok curse then you might win because tainted helps you for a fight you had trouble on. I actually have had this situation happen to me, I was about to fight inevitable and I thought my team was bad for it, but I thought tainted would be good with his cleave and poison, and I was right. So he was good there, but that still doesn't make him good for most runs. I think tainted needs a tweak. Either make his base sides better (the stasis honestly baffles me, feels super unnecessary), or lower the tier of the curse, or give an option of curses to select, or maybe even multiple of these changes at once.
I think the best thing about Forsaken is the matchup against Hexia, you can bind the bottom to make it immune to the magic burn effect for the rest of the turn which is quite helpful, especially if you're able to generate a bunch of mana without Forsakens help Other than that she's fine yeah Also I don't like wraith at all cause her spell sucks
Recently had a Robot win me a run with Compass, Collar for Copycat, the top/bottom cleave item, and Polearm. Leading to huge and consistent Crescent rescue/rampage armor damage cleaves. (I had an Agent with Katar trio to copy.) Maybe too rare an exodia combo but still insane.
Forsaken is much, much better now. Bind actually got buffed - it used to decrease a Rescued character's Max HP which made it useless in long-term fights.
48:00 Few days ago I had a great run going and decided to take Tainted over Dice as my last tier 3 because I thought it will be funny. Game gave me 4 max hp curse and the hand rolled 7 to all on turn 1.
any advice on nightmare mode...? been hacking my brain on that one cause you need plan for that mode from turn one to find some: endless rolling engine death defying loop infinite mana insta kill spells
Don't disagree that prince is garbage in force but if you get soup as your t4 and stick it on your other grey he goes from "you are never using this ability" to "you get to use this ability every single turn" which is very funny.
I tried to 999 rerolls using bloodrage reroll sorcerer. Issue was game started lagging and I gave up on just using 100 out of 999 mana I generated and winning the fight
