@@Hazelnut668 Well, it's a simple mating pattern. Rook is defended by the pawn so it cuts any escape squares for the king. Stalemate not possible as long as you keep the queen right from the rook and then it's a simple ladder mate. 1400s should see this in under 3 seconds

@Pato Gordo ⭕️ Because the rook by the pawn, the blacking king only has 4 squares to move on. First Hikaru captures the black pawn and promotes. Then he simply doubles up the queen and rook.

He's still playing for a win. Hikaru had 4 seconds on the clock and he had 6 and a pawn still so it wouldn't be draw by insufficient material. He just didn't expect Hikaru to premove the entire mate. It wasn't disrespectful or salty, the clock is part of the strategy of the game.

For everyone wondering what would happen if the king went the other way... Hikaru moved his king first into position and then the pawn to promote to queen. If the black king had gone the other way then the premove to position his king would have been invalid (king can't get close to king) so the premoves would stop there and the rest of the pawn sequence wouldn't continue. If that happened, Hikaru would simply adapt to the new situation and move differently.

Even simpler; black king moves to b8 just as Hikaru finishes premoving his king. Hikaru likely spotted this as he started premoving the pawn, and so knew it would be a valid sequence.

The Rook is defended by d5 so the black King is stuck on top of the board, and all of blacks Pawns are unable to move so he knows he can pre-move his King to capture g5 and by then he sees the black King on top left of the Rook so he knows he can pre-move the Pawn to promotion and get a Queen, then it's a ladder mate.

Hikaru is the best blitz player in the world and there are thousands of possible clips that would impress me. This is not one of them. Giving feedback is a way of helping the content creator. if you guys see carefully, the opponent pawns are stuck, king got only 4 squares to move, so Hikaru can literally premoves anything, so he just move his king, clears the path by taking the pawn, promotes his pawn to queen, places queen behind the rook(ensuring no check spots are created). then just 2 moves remaing for the mate. also opponent also premoved his king back and forth XD
