I accidentally showed the wrong math formula when I talked about defenses! Here is the formula I was talking about FLOOR ( Special Damage from Damage Formula * 600 / ( 600 + SpDef ) * .8 ) = Damage Taken
I think you misplaced a parenthesis still. The one on the right of SpDef should be on the right of the 0.8 instead. FLOOR ( Special Damage from Damage Formula * 600 / ( 600 + SpDef * .8 )) = Damage Taken. Otherwise, if you meant for the entire denominator to be multiplied by 0.8, it'd result in an overall 25% increase in damage. That would easily outclass everything.
This is one of the more slicker spoons I’ve ever seen. It’s slickness will be hard to match. They shouldn’t nerf it, but should probably make a Lesser Slickspoon.
as a Gengar main, I've been running the spoon for shadow ball, and super appreciate the math squad explaining why it's unnecessary. I do feel like I'm hitting tanks harder than usual, but seeing the math and knowing I ought to be sneakin around for squishies, I can see why they recommend not running it. I'm gonna go back to triple glasses. Can't stress enough how great these videos are!
Bonus HP on top of shred is AMAZING it feels so free on top of the damage you get and makes it much easier to slap on tanks without feeling like you're giving away your bulk entierly, maybe it's too much but it's great 👌
ya you can crush it with the 6,6 white-green built with full hp its so good please don't go 20 sp attack with the emblems its not worth it, the hp is just massive to be left off.....
@@LocalHobo631 bro 200 hp ur getting is not a flat value it scales with your level so with emblems and spoon u can get upto 1800-1500 to 2500 hp or more depending a tank or squishy
@@dhanushs.s2093 can I get a source where it tells me that the flat stats Pokémon items give scale? Been playing the game since the beginning and literally never heard of that 😮
we need some special attck all rounders in unite. i would personally love to see goldengo as a special attck all rounder.make it rain shadow ball power gem could all bemoves for it .itcould even have the passive good as gold which prevents this pokemon from being stunned.i think that will make this pokemon op in this stun heavy annoying meta.
honestly based on base stats (with Garchomp, Dragonite as reference with ~80s defense and ~90+ speed with whopping attack/spatk) and the fact that Alakazam has some decent special defense and speed in the main games, he should be THE prime SpA all-rounder.
@@josiah566 But he got shitty defense. All rounders are Frontliners. Besides Unite doesn't care all that about stats. Absol has meh speed stat in main games but is a Speedster in this.
Just wanted to mention that Mime's Psychic, Hoopa's Shadow Ball and Tuff's Sing also decrease Special Defense, the Spoon would get less value on them if you run those moves.
A slept on interaction is shell bell/slick spoon. I rarely see this build, but the amount of sustain is insane, like the rapidscarf/draincrown build but better.
I've been running spoon, bell, and focus band on giga dance venusaur and been having a great time with it. You just don't freaking die in the late game.
@@TheNewOcMuse Anything with life steal goes super hard with this build. Unfortunately, that's very pokemon, really putting it down to maybe... two usable mons? Goodra and Venusaur. Still an insane build. And you don't even sacrifice damage, as you live long enough to be disruptive, and the cooldown reduction on shell bell makes it all the more worth it.
@@JsJ0904 goodra does really well if you can actually hit those dragon pulses. Usually the combo is power whip, dragon pulse, basic x3 (or until cooldown resets), repeat.
I've mentioned slick spoon in every comment about the current meta. Yes Zacian and comfey have the meta in a vice grip, but slick spoon is oppressive. I've laned against pikachu and espeon as goomy and sliggoo and if you're even, you're getting destroyed by the 2 of them.
I don't think spoon is the problem. The problem is that the game holds your hand as a ranger. "Oh you're coming for me? Let me run away and eject button!" I think ranged pokemon should not be allowed to use x-speed or eject button
The Charlie comparison was absolutely great 😂 and my goodra build is spec attack specs , focus band , energy amplifier and I have absolutely been devastating , I’ll have to try a slick spoon build
Thanks for all the info Jake but not running it on Gengar with the Shadowball build doesn't make logical sense to me. If the damage formula regarding defence is 600/(600 + x) where x is the relevant defensive type, then that means every point of defence you add gives diminishing returns. Looking at this in reverse means that the more penetration you stack, the more effective it becomes. I fail to see how taking Choice Specs over this is a good idea. Yes it helps for burst but it's single target only and the cooldown on the effect is a massive 8 seconds. The spoon effect applies on everything you do, to every target, all the time.
Yo Jake, this is priority number 1 Someone can constantly invite you to a game and not let you do anything. You can decline all you want, the person can keep inviting you. You can't block the person or anything. I insist you try this with someone and see for yourself. Please make a video about this to get this heard.
6:35 Choice actually works on mike better than wise, the constant burst it provides to every alternate confusion is huge. And confusion already has great scaling.
1:58 You showed the offensive damage formula and said you'd multiply 0.8. However, that would technically just make you deal less damage. If I'm not mistaken, based on the slick spoon's description, it multiplies the opposing pokemon's Special Defense stat by 0.8. So, the special attack damage formula would look like FLOOR ( Special Damage from Damage Formula * 600 / ( 600 + 0.8 * SpDef ) ) = Damage Taken
Talking about goodra, and considering attacking itens for it, choice specs seems to give more spAtk compared to ignoring defense. Goodra at max level has 450 sp atk, with a fully stacked choice specs you get more 120spAtk and that means 37% spAtk added. Maybe this is not as relevant as ignoring defense when we're talking about beating tankers, but imo I think goodra is a brawler, a front-liner. So if you're going for muddy water build, better go with specs, cookie and focus band. As muddy water defense increase depends on base SpAtk. Muscle band, scarf and focus would have a better sustain due to goodra cd reduction, if going for dragon pulse. It all depends, mostly important: have fun!
The Gengar argument I'll take it with a grain of salt because if you miss the first shadow ball them you don't have the sp.def reduction, so I'll need to see the math damage of the combo without the first shadow ball hitting. Also the first shadow ball you throw don't have the sp.def reduction, so if you are kiting before going all in there could be a difference in damage.
I only tested mime, since power swap is more DPS, and confusion is more bursty, I could test out both ends, and in terms of damage, it went choice specs> wise glasses> slick spoon
Assuming the equation he mentioned is all there is to it, the easiest way to understand defense is the percentage that is added to the whole. So 300 defense is added to 600 which gives 900, 300 is 33% of 900 and that is your percentage of damage reduction. 200 defense would be 25% of 800.
I can’t help but ponder what other items they will add in after this. Always chance they could add more in, and I am going to be concerned if we start to see thing like “pierce damage” for special moves or even basic attacks (i.e. a slick spoon for attackers). Up to now, I don’t think items have gone too far off the deep end as far as any that were so hysterically broken, they had to be nerfed, but much like a rampaging Zacian, I fear the day it might happen and how it might not be addressed for a considerable sum of time.
Jake, been here for a long time. Just wanted to tell you, you're getting even funnier with the jokes, more informative, and better with your video quality as time passes. The work you've put in is showing. Good job man, wishing for all the growth and success you could hope for.
Out of Contest: somebody REALLY has to talk about the fact that clefable's graity does NOT block : zacian's play rough and tsareena's trop kick. It was very funny yet stressfull yesterday to play and seeing a tsar and zacian coming and annihilate me :))) (ofc zacian with confey on him)
I think they can Nerf comfey by making slight changes like while you're attached to an All rounder or Attacker both of them can't stun with even the crowd control moves
You know magical leaf is het only attack move she have ad all?! Nerf that move and she does not have an attack move anymore she is than attackless. She can not normale attack on a host pokemon. Het damage output and hp is so low solo she can’t kill anyting att all all mons are faster and stronger then compy. Hit her 2 times and she is death. Also she can not even heal herself with her skill if she is alone. All other supporters CAN heal themselfs!
Thanks spargels it is very useful for me because I need a video on slick spoon and I want try it every on every pokemon thanks for making this video love u 😊 yeee haww
Hello Everyone and spragels ofc Just want to ask if this Bruiser emblem build is good or meh: Zacian,Skarmory,Steelix,2Nido,poliwrath,Gyara,Tauros,Clefable,Snubull. Not much + and not much - either, but you get them 6 emblem set effect.
i wouldnt do slick spoon for damage mr mime because his kit is more for blowing up squishy mons over trying to kill the tank where as espeon, sylveon, glaceon, delphox, cram, etc. will be hitting tanks more than squishies so slick spoon is good on these mons i would not do slick spoon for gardevoir since her range allows for great access to hit squishies and kind of wants items that helps her blow up squishies as a result
I have been running scarf/ focus band and spoon on venasur petal dance and i would say when venasur gets his passive on with that spoon he hits harder than a truck 😅
spoon so strong it's made the meta a special attack meta. there are still attack based characters performing well but special attackers as a whole dominate this season. i love it. i hate it. i want to say it needs a baby nerf. i don't want to say it at all. zacian nerf comes first for me. such a strong item.
So glad they made special attackers strong just because of a very strong held item giving them a push, if it wasn't for the goddamn dog with a toothpick, I would prop them for that.
That's because it's not great on Cinder and Greninja. And if you have teammates playing those two using it it's because they don't know how the game actually works. Go look at each Pokemon it tells you if they are a regular or special attacker. Both Greninja and cinder are physical, slick is for special. You'd have a better time playing cinder with something like attack weight, muscle band, rapid fire scarf or a build similar to that
@@ChinnuSped it's no problem bro it's common for people to assume cinder is special because of pyro ball and fireball attacks but ya he's physical same with ninja
Mathematically no, for example, if you split a move that does 500 damage into five hits, then add 10% to all of these parts, you get 550 damage, this is the same as multiplying the 500 by 1.1 (or adding 10%)
It's not the end of the world using it with Comfey 🤔 more Sp. Atk and HP are both key for its kit and that extra little damage is welcome. Wise or Choice might be better (considering the ExShare + Rescue Hood build) but again, it's not the worst thing either.
He's an attacker, does not use sp attack. If you go to the held items menu and pick a pokemon you will see a tag with either attack or sp. attack under them, that means they will use items with those stats.
Nerf spatkers to balance them please… Slick spoon breaks spatkers. The spoon doesnt need a nerf, but something does. I love it on Blastoise. Been running spoon, choice specs and amp on surf pump, and I finally think surf punp might actually be good now.
What held items would u recommend, leveling up to level 30? Im also not new. Have been playing since release. Im just not sure what else i should put my enhancers into to get to 30 lol! (Every item is 20+ btw)
@@spragels I already have Muscle, Scope, Shell, Focus, buddy barrier, score shield, razor claw, rapid scarf, spoon at lvl 30 lol! Everything else is at 20. So im stuck as to what else i should muster up to lvl 30 at this point…lmao!
What I don’t get is how everyone says defense stats don’t matter when talking about emblems, but somehow defense stats matter when talking about damage? Apparently slick spoon and ttars true damage is noticeable so why does defense not matter when making an emblem page?
Defenses matter but hp is much more valuable that's why - you can check out the eHp calculations from the math cord. There isn't an item that makes you deal 20% more damage so you take the one that gives you something extra from opponents lowered defenses.
