Muting strings with your left hand also is important I’ve found out through my experience with playing slide. Just have basically the same amount of pressure as you do with the slide (just enough). Also the tone and volume knobs on your guitar are very critical, i usual have my tone down to half if it’s more ambient and around 75% or more on songs that have more aggressive slide parts.

That was super helpful! When building a patch, how do you know how loud the patch and each snapshots should be to sit correctly in the mix without the need for someone to ride your level throughout the song?

just do the gary rossington trick and put a wire under the strings at the first fret to raise the action ;)

Curious: Why is a capo helpful for slide play? Derek Trucks and Luther Dickinson often play open or dropped tunings.

Didn’t use it for any of this. Was just working thru stuff and didn’t take it off beforehand is all :)

Rock slides are the best IMO.....I have both glass and brass but prefer the glass... I feel its a little warmer and smoother just don't drop it ha!

I don't go too crazy on song patches. Match the bpm, adjust reverb based on the song, delay, any mods if I feel like it, done.
