One beautiful build! Wonderful! You did an amazing job with this airplane. I had often thought of this Minisport, but opted for the EROS 1650 Minimax. I like yours much better. I did fly the EROS for over 13 years and over 750 hours. And, you can't build your own plane unless you have "a ton of bricks." True. :-) Thanks for posting. N6395T
@@WillTunna Hi, Will. The biggest challenge was to finish the plane :-D If you have specific questions about how to proceed in some cases, I will advise you at facebook.com/stavimSD1 . I wish you good luck, this aircraft is a joy to build and fly. :-)
@@WillTunna There are several biggest challenges. The first would be to actually set up a perfectly level table large enough to build wings and fuselage on it. If you mess that up and the table is slightly twisted (even just 1 or 2 mm) your wings and fuselage will be twisted as well. Buy a precision level and learn to use it. Another biggest challenge will be to properly set the wings in the fuselage (especially the rear bolts) so the wings are at the precise same angle of attack. Then there's the fin to be set in the rear of the fuselage - the spar needs to be set perfectly straight, otherwise not only the fin, but also your elevator will be crooked. You notice the pattern? Up to here the challenges are all of the one-chance-only type: mess it up and it can't be undone. The best advice I could possibly give: Be very precise with everything you do. Rather spend a few days on solving a challenge with utmost precision then messing it up. I was extremely proud when my plane was testflown by a very experienced SD1 pilot and he told me "built straight, flies straight" with a beaming smile on his face. I haven't changed the setup ever since.
That Briggs and Stratton needs a PRSU from Ace Aviation! You can get a very reliable 35-40hp from it and that would really improve performance, especially in climb. Excellent quality in your build!
I built the plane very light (114Kg), the climb rate is 600ft/m. I know of kits that improve performance, but I don't want to do it at the expense of reliability and fuel economy. Thank you for your comment :-)
hello, good job. I am very interested in building this plane in Colombia, could you help me get the plans to start the construction, I live in Colombia. Thank you
