Make sure when you are drilling or screwing into the door MAKE SURE YOU DONT SCREW INTO THE GLASS. The glass does sit just inside the frame, so make sure your placing the lock far enough back so that you dont shatter the glass once the drill of screw goes into it.

I think it should be installed at the top so that the sliding door cannot be lifted from the track?

You can install it at the top or bottom, and (at least with my sliding door) there's no way to lift it.

I use a 3 ft piece of PVC pipe and wedge it in between the sliding door and the door jam

We used to use wooden dowels in the same way. However, for a door we open numerous times per day that didn't really work out!

@@chris usually we keep it jammed in there. I've heard some crazy stories about bad people just walking into someone's house through the sliding door left unlocked.

Easy for a double door, especially one where one of the doors is stationery. Does not look feasible for triple sliding doors which all slide into an outside "pocket".

If your rocking triple sliding doors, you probably have 3 inch steel gates with 15 ft walls. You don't need this product

I was trying to install it on the top and the screws were too long that will block the door, any ideas?

Will this keep the sliding door from being jimmied/lifted? Tired of leaning down to remove the dowel from the track.

Great question! I've honestly never tried. So, off I went to the door to test it out. I was able to lift up the handle side no problem to create a bit of a gap at the top. However, on the lock side I was unable to lift it up at all--not even a little bit. So, I suppose it depends on the door but in my case I don't see how it's possible.
