It's a rare moment in music where the bassist can shine and carry a song when he's not the lead. Absolute legends. Love these guys and this album is gold. Also the drummer might as well be one of their brothers, dude is a monster.
I worked in the music biz from 1988 to 2004, I've seen 300+ concerts, and I have not been this excited to see a band in 2 decades. Oct 20th Lee's Palace baby! In the 90s Lee's was my 2nd home, along with the Dance Cave upstairs. I hope I can handle it physically. 😛
I am 50 years old and I will rock out till I die. I love being at shows in the crowd like this. Makes me feel young again. On a side note right before all the covid nonsense my family went to a Slipknot show and there was 3 generations of us there. It was such an awesome experience for me with my son and grand daughters.
@@mikepalmer1971 that's awesome my friend! I'm 51 an have some health issues preventing me from standing that long, I miss going to shows, there's nothing like it. You are truly living life to the fullest! Keep on Rockin' out with the fam!
I was lucky enough to see a Jimi Hendrix concert in 1970 in San Diego, California shortly before he died and this band has a lot of the same energy, talent and originality that I heard in Jimi back then. Great to hear that they were influenced by Jimi as well. Jimi dead for 50 years and he's still influencing musicians to this day.
Wowwwwww! I hadn't seen, and listened, something so amazing in a very long time. Everything is so brilliant here: the musicians (that bass!), the skills, the song, the jam, the sound, the noise, the camera work, the joy of the audience.. This is just awesome. And still another crucial thing: they play completely possessed and like there is no tomorrow! These guys transmit so much respect for the music... Thank you, Slift. Really :)
I have to agree. Most exciting band I have listened to in a long time. I will fly from Shanghai to catch them somewhere in the world. These guys absolutely kill!
I fully agree with you. Many guitar players I knox say ay you. At first glance, I even thouhgt that the drummer was weak. And then undersood I was wrong. Such a guitar hero must rely on good people and on a nice rythim line. Cheers from France 🙂
@@michelledana4467 Thee Oh Sees, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, All Them Witches, ORB, POND, Tame Impala, Mink Mussel Creek, Ty Segall, and Fuzz are the big ones.
Slift really has created some psychedelic rock/metal that feels so timeless. It features so many of the tropes of psychedelic rock music all the way to 60's and all. But it's presented in such a new and exciting way. So I feel it makes them both really accessible for just about any age.
When someone says 'they burned the house down' this is exactly the definition. People just don't jam like this very often. Fuckin magic filled that place to the brim.
The bassist is toppppppp! It reminisces me John paul jones while he plays dazed and confused. Where he keeps the groove, while jimmy page does the long solo improv section whatever is that.
It's kind of rare that the love for some novels can lead you to an awesome band that then becomes one of your favorites as well, just like the novels they name their stuff after
Race ! There’s a chariot race Led by lions, proud and full of grace Oh Race ! There’s a chariot race Oh ! Where every things take place Fast ! The run is so fast Present of the future past At last Universe become fast So fast ! Then it turn furious, it’s gonna be... Loud ! Louder than the storm ! And the lightning, breaking through the doors !
Let’s hope we can get back to gigs like this soon... Slift took that audience on a space rock journey that would have done Syd Barrett proud. THIS IS SOMETHING SPECIAL...
haha a few people in that crowd front row are absolutely lifted. Namely the guy in the gizz shirt and his buddy next to him. Those guys are getting jettisoned into space and I fully support their journey
I already bought tickets for March. It's not something I usually do, buy tickets four months prior to a concert but I feel like I REALLY don't want to miss this.
Thee Oh Sees! I know them and I like them very much. Althogh I don't find them so similar to Slift as some people say. Thee Oh Sees are very diverse and heterogenic but I find them more connected to punk and garage rock (genres that I also love). But is an another great band with great live performances. I've seen Oh Sees live twice now. I totally love both Slift and Thee Oh Sees, and I don't get the animosity some fans have. But I stand but what I wrote, Slift should do the Dune soundtrack. If John Dwyer does a film soundtrack he should do it as Damaged Bug, not Osees.
@@bernatfeliu6259 Another one in that genre is Fuzz, featuring Ty Segall. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GE6RXO8j4j4.html&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR13ZjH3wc9334GME3fMB6AbdKiVGPidCWy-2i1pn6QqyNtaspLJMmey9jw
@@CorruptedDogg It’s just that thing nowadays when a new rock band comes along and everyone feels the need to shoehorn their sound/influences and say they’re not that original because some other band that sounds sorta similar came first. Just look at Black Midi; so many people love to say they’re not original because they sound a bit like *insert a gazillion different bands here* but what they don’t realize is that by saying a band sounds like a hundred different band with a hundred different sounds, you’re actually admitting that their sound must be original if it has such different influences.
It's an amazing how a three piece band can make so much noise! Bought all the digital albums, ep's and stuff this weekend, really enjoying it. EDIT: Caved and bought the Ummon LP
this song sounds like flying through space having wacky adventures getting in trouble with your friends. Like a Scooby Doo chase scene but in outer space.
