Thank you for a lovely reaction, really good song that I probably would not have heard otherwise. I always thought country was a genre and world wide, there is am over lap with country, folk and gospel, food for thought.
I've always felt that Rock, Country, R&B, and Gospel are verrrry closely related. I feel that's why one gets a little essence of other genres, mixed-in---that's also why, IMO, there are black people who are, say, Elvis fans, and white people, like me, who like, say, Aretha Franklin!
I am an American, but country music from Australia and Canada has to be my favorites. I've been a huge Slim Dusty fan for years and is one of my favorites. Check out his songs Cunnamulla Fella and Man From Snowy River. As for Canadian country music, artists like Stompin' Tom Connors, Tim Hus, and Corb Lund. Stompin Tom was like a Canadian Slim Dusty. Check out his song Canadian Lumberjack, he performs it in English and French!
What a beautiful reaction to One of Australia's Icon of Country Music. Lights On The Hill and We've Done Us Proud are beautiful songs of Slim's...R.I.P SLIM 😪🙏🏾✝️💖💯...
Shinia Twain, blue rodeo, corb lund and the hurtin albertains, Anne Murray (first female country artist to go triple platnium),Terri Clark,Tim Hicks, Deon Brody, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Paul Brant, Emerson drive (from my home town and who I seen before they were famous), Dallas Smith, James baker band, High Valley, Brett Kissel are just a few Canadian artists.
This really turns back the clock for me. This sounds like a soundtrack tune that would have been on a real oldie-type western movie. I can almost see the cowboy riding away, weaving his horse in and out around the cactus. I didn't know that Australia had it's own country music so very interesting.
Keith Urban is from Australia, and Australia has had a country music scene going back decades. James Blundell released an album in the U.S. back in 1991 called "Hand Me Down," but nothing else of his was ever released for the U.S. market. There's plenty of his stuff on RU-vid.
I am glad I've been able to hear Country music from another country. This song is very good and comforting. I have a couple requests, you reacted to George Strait 4 months ago, can you listen to his song "Best Day" and his duet with Alan Jackson "Murder on Music Row". Love your videos.
Thanks for sharing. Loved it. I know you've played Toby Keith, so just wanted you to know that he announced that he has stomach cancer. Was diagnosed 6 months ago. Said he was recovering from treatment. Please keep him in your prayers.
Waltzing Matilda and Lights on the Hill are good Slim Dusty songs. This video had a wonderful old country feel to it, unlike some of todays country songs. I loved it, thank you.
The very first recording was by John Collingson in 1926. I'm sure that it has been recorded many times by other artists, but I love to listen to Slim Dustys version. You should take a little trip down memory lane and check it out!
This song was from Slim's final album(100th album) released before his death. It is for Slim Dusty's hard work that Australia has a local music recording industry as none of them would support local talent but imported music from the UK and USA. Slim Dusty's role in the Australian music industry is of historic importance. He was working on his 101st album when Slim died.
