Somewhat album spoilers below? It’s conflicting because I feel like Eminem proved a point in a way, because if he dropped even like a lil 6 song EP rapping like he does on renaissance it is a 10/10 project
Same but i wish he woulda just did it himself, It sounds like he used AI technology which is pretty tacky, a few of the songs the voice sounds like it’s coming through a telephone & like it has too much high end EQ the S’s are very sharp sounding. Cant tell if that on purpose or just a byproduct of using AI & EQing it to try & sound like the old slim
Flow being choppy is just such a strange pet peeve. Choppy flows are a staple of rap. Staccato is literally built into the genre. An opinion is an opinion I understand, but it just seems so strange that Scru docks points when he hears a choppy bar in a song.
You're spot on. Choppy flow hatred (especially only directed at Em) feels so boring now. a) Em didn't invent choppy flow, b) He isn't the only rapper who uses choppy flow, c) choppy flow can be as good as any other flow style, depends on how you use it. I really don't get this "pet peeve". I personally like choppy flow a lot.
Bro stop trying to explain why you think scru wrong this is his opinion on it and that's fine you're opinion isn't wrong or right but this video is just scrus opinion
@@MattIsLoling There isn't anything about Scru exclusively in my comment. Lots of people (including him) hate on choppy flow in a way I don't understand. I actually liked his reaction to the album a lot, this is just a point I disagree with him, and I'm also entitled to expressing my opinion as much as he does. This reaction is so cringe, man. Rethink.
@@MattIsLoling I have never seen someone contradict themselves, acknowledge that they contradicted themselves, and still post the comment lmao. Like YOU said, your allowed to have opinions about opinions. Like you just did with mine, and i did about Scru’s. Lol
I think it's because many of those who use the choppy flow is that it's the only flow they do in music. Of course, it makes no sense to criticize Em for using it, giving he has so many flows and pockets to easily switch from and to. I could be wrong, but I think this is where the hate is coming from.
@@zainkhalil7494bro the sounding quality of this album is goated, genuenly people are hypocrites tbh because u don't apply the same argument with some terrible sounding songs on mr morale like crown and just say "the message tho,10/10"
If you think ai then you ain’t a fan! Come on he can change his voice he does accents all sorts in other albums and you really think he would result to that
@@jamesnottzng6ford684 "AI" in this case would just be voice filters. Someone, obviously himself, would have to rap it and then use the voice filter which people have just dubbed as "AI" lately. Which, to be fair, does use some complicated math that a lot of AI models also use, so it's not entirely wrong. AI totally can be used to make standalone singing via Voice models, but it always sounds a bit off. For things like Glorb's Spongebob Squarepants rap songs, they're all voice filters over the real Glorb rapping in different styles. I could be wrong and they did actually use a standalone AI voice model, though. You can get them incredibly accurate to real singing and even tune the details of how it sounds if you put in the work. Probably a bit more work to actually do than just using voice filters, but it's totally possible and Eminem obviously has enough money to do so. TL;DR: It might be a voice filter over him singing, or it could be actual AI, or it could be just him rapping like how he used to with no enhancements. All-in-all my opinions worthless and idk, lol. Just figured I'd share since people tend to get stuff like AI voice models confused with voice filters a lot.
If you really knew Eminem, you would realize that this guy doesn’t flow just one way, there’s multiple ways that this guy flows. You just prefer one way .. but this guys skill is multi talented.
It’s not that he don’t know em flows multiple ways. It’s that the choppy way he be doing these days is ass. It takes talent to do it, but when that’s the whole style it just doesn’t work. It’s like too much salt on a dish
His vocal tone on the first track is exactly like how it was on the Eminem Show. His voice has changed with age but hearing that vocal tone of his again had me smiling like a proud father 😂
I think the fact he can switch back in forth right now, implies he could of done this all along and it was more of a choice to sound how he does nowadays.
My only issue with Antichrist is that after Lucifer, Evil, and Road Rage the idea behind Antichrist starts to feel a bit repetitive. Still love it, but I would maybe cut Lucifer from the Album to make it feel more special.
NO THE TRUTH IS YALL DNT WANT THE REAL REACTIONS NOR DO HE . HE WANTS VALIDATION. HE WILL NEVER HES A RACIST SEXIST CULTURE VULTURE NO DIFFERENT THEN DRAKE. AND HE LIKES YOUNG GIRLS TOO HES JUST LOWKEY
ppl liked shady back then but also didnt like the singing, makes very much sense my mother ever liked em singing when she was younger either, i like it tho
For sure. Definitely falls short of his Slim Shady LP to Eminem Show run, but this is the closest he’s ever been to being at that level again. Far from perfect, but if you’re an Eminem fan you’ll love it.
Em has bodied the intros for the past 3 albums. The cadence of his delivery in the intro gave me goosebumps, I can ignore the words and it’s still hit me
What’s impressive is Eminem can make the old style records but clearly chooses to make the new style. So he’s still got it all in him and can pull it out whenever he wants No diddy
It's almost like scru is stuck on the eminem from the past to where he can't fully appreciate the em we have now. This choppy flow he speaks of goes with his beats he chose. eminem style has always been multi cultured.
nah the last flow starts off with new ems flow, then switches to slim shady and u can hear it from the change in his voice, then goes back to new em at the end with he cartman and allat
I dont understand, you say it don't hit the same because he is not that guy anymore, because he don't live that life anymore. But the Em then was on drugs and going through emotional turmoil. He's matured and has gotten past that and has evolved as a lyracist. And thank God he did because there are old MCs who couldnt do what he is doing now...just look at Melle Mel😂. I am 36 and grew up listening to Em. And as I appreciate his older music, I respect his new. Mans come a long way and is still relevent, and is forever GOATed in my eyes. While his flow and rhyme scheme isn't like before it is still 🔥🔥🔥
The rhyme scheme itself has evolved beyond proportions, so has his flow, he is like a chameleon... he just absorbs stuff and can use it at will =) I totally agree with you... as much as I loved the Eminem Show, Slim Shady LP, MMLP era... i love his upgrades
he just didnt fully take into consideration 2 factors. 1 Eminem is 51 years old now, he even knows he cant truely go down the same rabbit hole you can feel it. And 2 before when it was (early 2000s) him and his "alter ego" or intrusive thoughts is now his way older self trying to take on the character of his old self and his alter ego, which sounds way less natural. But i think the value in doing what hes doing is still the creativeness in his word choice flow and technique that people can factually recollect as a great artist. His use of derogatory words and ideas only give it more power since we can relate to the events from our experiences like him, which is why i disagreed when he was hinting at the pointlessness going that route when contrasting new from old em. Theres still value there and i hope em can take full advantage of it during his return.
@@oblivious3357 That's what I can't stand. When it comes to Kendrick, he says we have to listen to the work and the bars, no matter how it sounds like because we know he's a great artist, but not Eminem. Eminem needs to have his flow picked apart (as if Scru could flow anywhere near Eminem), the bars picked apart, Eminem needs to do exactly what Sru wants, and flow exactly like Scru wants, otherwise, he's gonna come around like a professor telling Eminem everything wrong with a 2-minute flow in a 19 songs album. It's pathetic. I gave up on him when he said, "I think it's a conceptual album"... From this point on you know everything he says is bulllllshit.
@@quaerimuslux it's clear from a lot of scrus work that there's a big reason why scru picks on the artists he picks on... also it's funny bc scru has similar flows to the ones he shits on em for
Y'all never heard of constructive criticism have you? He doesn't have to like every line or bar. Also if y'all don't like the pausing then go watch someone else. Unlike most "reactors" scru actually reacts to the content.
Its a mix of almost all of his albums. "Reneissance" for example is his infinite/SSLP voice and style, he got songs here where he is mimicking Relapse, MMLP, TES, Recovery, and even Revival. That 1 song he made for Hailie here is ment to be a story between the songs Castle&Arose on that album. Castle, last song of this album then Arose is the storyline. Each continues the story from where the previous song left off. Pretty dope in my opinion.
@JJ-ji5ey I don't hear a mix of them all. I hear Eminem Show delivery a lot and Relapse style rhyme schemes. Plus a lot of the songs are dark sounding like Relapse. If anything there's a splash of Encore too. But I don't hear SSLP or MMLP. As for the Hailie songs I respect them both. But they are hard skips for me only because he's not my father. If he was of course those would be my favorite. And I might like them even more if they weren't SO different from the rest. They stick out like a green hat with an orange bill.
The whole concept with “habits” is that Marshall and Slim Shady is rapping back and forth. So that “other voice” you hear on the track, is slim shady (I think they used A.I.). The track even starts with Eminem trying to get rid of shady. I personally love that idea
I think it’s unfair for people to say this doesn’t sound like true, old slim shady. Idk why anyone would expect someone’s music to sound the same as it did 30+ years ago. I know you weren’t hating but just giving your opinions, but yeah I don’t think those expectations are really fair. Dude is over 50 now. We’re lucky to get anything this close to the old slim
I kinda thought that too, but I swear it feels like the H@T€ for Em is louder & stronger than the love for him!😞 As happy as I am when he drops *anything* sometimes I wish he would stop and that’s coming from a Stan! I just fn lo@the hearing *ALL* the negativity, r@cism and pure H@T€ for Marshall! I’m so tired of it😞 I need to get a thicker skin since I love watching Em reactions because YT will suggest vids and the new sshhh out about Em is just 🦇sshhh CRAZY!😑 Sorry for the vent😅🫶
new drinking game take a drink everytime scru starts analyzing his flow then starts rapping old em preaching about his love for old eminem flow and style and how that made him a fan but he doesn’t love the flow em uses today and starts imitating his choppy flow then listens for a line that he can use as an example, shit on it then clear the air that he is a true eminem fan and he dont just dick ride like other youtubers he’s authentic 🙌
@jay-robthagod2301 • omg! 😂😂😂😂This is the greatest comment! lol! And you two @isaiahminott & @Condznse lovely fn witty people almost made me spit out my☕️ Ah thanks guys!🤭🫶
the album is an absolute tease for all the OG eminem fans... it was so damn hype hearing the old voice and even just the rhyming and same style. It's everything we've wanted from him ever since. I understand artists must evolve one way or another but damn it would be insane if he did a whole side story album or something where he just brought that OG style back. For various reasons i just could never get back into his new stuff and his newer style.. Beats included
This was the best way to open the album for me, this is the Eminem sound I grew up on and loved. I remember being in like 5th grade listening to The Eminem Show on repeat. Because of this song I listened to the entire album from beginning to end which I haven’t done since his recovery album.
you called it a laffy taffy joke before you even let him finish, then said “yo that was hard” you see the problem, iyou go into songs with complaints ready and look for a moment to insert them
I’m a “stan” and I 120% agree with everything Scru is saying. Slim shady isn’t just “offending” people. It was his flow, delivery, etc. Eminem isn’t the same anymore and THATS OKAY. It’s nostalgic.
Eminem can rap with the best flow ever.. I think he wants to create a unique style, to be studied by new generations. He already have done a lot of unique flows and shits.. He wants out more s... In his legacy
What's crazy is this is exactly what Rennaissance and Habits is about. I actually thought Scru's explanation on this was the most accurate yet without him quite getting the point of the song. Em is saying that his use of the Slim Shady alter ego that can say anything is a bad habit, an addiction. Whereas before he used to do it for enjoyment and to 'add a little something,' make a clever point, his addiction to using it has turned it into mere offense for offense's sake.
Also its about being who you are and not letting others tell you how to act. Its the same type of Anarchy punk attitude thats always refreshing to hear . The perfect vent music to listen to when you just want to beat up your boss at work for being a retard, for example.
I have been a stan without paying much attention to what the actual flow and lyrics are changing through out the years, just starting to watch reaction videos about his songs very recently, your perspective on the difference of Slim and Em is really giving the resonance as I kinda felt the same way but couldn't put into words. love this
I discovered your channel during the Kendrick/Drake beef and honestly your passion for music and the grind in general is really refreshing. No bias. Just love for the art and the sport of hip hop. Big fan of yours and the content you spread my guy.
Thanks for keeping your reaction genuine, wouldn't want it any other way. Other youtubers will either pretend every song is perfect or they go into the album thinking it's corny before the first song plays, but you don't do any of that shit. You either like it or you don't, and you tell it how it is in a respectable way. Keep bein you Scru.
Fr though, why do some Em fans call themselves a Stan? I just don’t get it, it’s like you didn’t understand his best song. I agree with your takes though.
I liked it more 2..when I spin the album 3 times, I ended up liking eminem's more.. He was hella aggressive and call me simple minded but I loved that "c" alliteration scheme.. Way too smooth..
Nice video Scru! I don't understand these people in your comments hating on your reaction/your opinions about the songs. I'ts your first reaction and people be hating on your honesty. Keep it up man u deserve more love
"this can't be possible" exactly my reaction on the first listen of the whole album, he couldn't take us back to the early 2000s so he brought it to us
I don't know, the fact that you get that Slim's Shady voice along with Eminem... it's just, I don't know, as an Eminem fan is all I wanted in this new era of Eminem. It's a great concept album for a fan, it's literally a love letter and shows you why Slim doesn't work anymore or how he's still stuck in the past with the same old jokes and so on. The thing is you have to listen to the whole album to realize the story. He's not trying to bring back slim shady to offend people. Amazing album.
I've watched so so so many reactions to this song and by far was this my favorite. It took me a while to get to seeing your fair points on Em. But then you kept foreshadowing the entire song by talking about how it's not like the old Shady. Then it hit you at once lol. Loved this bro.
Scru, you aren't the only real Eminem fan. People can like new Eminem and still have loved old Eminem. People can also prefer old Eminem like you do. But the latter doesn't make you somehow more of a real fan.
I appreciate your point, Eminem is not slim shady anymore, slim shady wasn’t just a persona it was a point in time that can’t be replicated! Eminem evolved passed slim shady Let’s be thankful that he’s going back to bringing up the shit that a lot of people are thinking but haven’t got the cohones to say out loud
Your reactions are the best because they're actually like unbiased reviews with valid critiques and you give constructive criticism. When Eminem is hitting those "pockets" he's showing he's still got it. He used to be able to naturally do it in his early albums but now he seems to struggle to find it. He needs someone in his corner to give him the feedback and help guide him to keep him in that area. If he made an album like that it would definitely have massive appeal and match the status of the first 3 legendary albums
I think this album is Eminem turning into Shady. If you notice in the second song, his voice changes from normal Eminem to Shadys voice from back in the day. And the first song was a look into the end. That’s my thoughts.
Jean the answer is simple. When you hear the "older Slim shady lyrics from 20 years ago, there's topics relevant to the 2000's and then the newer sounding EM lyrics are relevant to todays topics. He pulled tracks never released that he recorded and never used it. Now it's melded with the marshal in this album. It works fantastically. Since history repeats itself, he waited for history to come back around to try and destroy him 20 years later. IT'S BRILLANT. GOAT
I was with you in the beginning, lost me in the middle of reaction (different opinions), you got me back on the last half. Thinking about it, that is how it is with every Scru reaction featuring Eminem I've watched 😂😂. Do you bro 👍🏾
Eminem came out when I was 13, I've grown up listening to him, and loving it all. I was so happy for this album, I didn't even realize how much I missed Slim. You're reaction just makes it all better though!
@@tayo17923it ain’t even sound bad his bad singing examples are like from farewell in too deep rhyme or reason etc but this wasn’t even a bad singing take that he did imo he did just the right amount to make it sound good
I’ve been waiting for Eminem to bring back Slim Shady for years now. Our world and society needs Slim Shady. People are censoring themselves and getting cancelled and others are censoring themselves and afraid to speak and it’s the complete opposite of what arts and entertainment and even society are suppose to be.
