Houston rappers are special as hell. They got their own style, put the entire world on Lean, screwed music, etc. Screwed music went back underground, but that shit will always be fire.
Dope interview! 2004 or so you had so many Houston rappers from Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug of course, Z-Ro, UGK, Lil Keke, Mike Jones, Fat Pat, Big Hawk, Lil Flip, DJ Screw, Trae the Truth,Big Poke, and so many others. I also remember the early 1990's rappers like Geto Boys, 5th Ward Boyz, Gangsta Nip, 3-2, Devin the Dude, and Big Mello.
Bro im from kansas, I first heard about they shit in 2002 couldn't believe these niggas was rapping this tough. Chamillionaire was my favorite fasho. But the whole Swisha House was hard! Still tryna figure out what happened to Magno
My dude always been about business. He doesn't get in between others beef. Hes all about that business and that's how you last in the rap game. Nice!!!! I'm proud of how far he has come. Salute Slim!!!!
Man I'm from Massachusetts but I'm a die hard hip hop fan and historian, and I'll say this 2004 to about 2006 when Houston rose up it was one the greatest moments in hip hop history... more than just "Still Tippin" dope music and they brought they own style such a great time to be a fan of hip hop music...
chamillionaire always been ahead of his time he was making power moves while everybody was calling him a nerd he don't rap cuz he doesn't have to definitely miss his raps tho.
@@jfresh214yt2 I always felt that Waiting on my downfall track was initially meant for Chams debut nationwide album but I think he was still kinda referencing that Mike Jones beef so Universal had him leave it off. I could be way off, it was just the production and hook were so fire it sounded like a mainstream song.
@@saulm2007 “ it seems there’s a deadly virus / That’s sweeping through the urban community/ The side-effects cannot often be seen / because your pockets will it turn green . ‘
He earned that plaque too, his grind was unrivaled in his city at the time and that says a lot with regards to the Houston scene because, a lot of boys was chasing paper.
Trill Mac478 Slim said in that diss when they see some of the members they dont mention your namelol Flip was paying screw to indroduce him as Frrestyle kings you dumbasses
Michael Birdsong I agree bro !!! If they woulda stuck together they would have progressed the 3rd coast movement!!! But they did you know what I’m saying!!!!
Crazy how Houston went from the rap powerhouse that it was, putting Texas in the top arguably THE top in the game to what it is today bruh.....I don't even know who's big in Houston anymore other than Sauce and TSF, I fw lilCJ Kasino but he out of Ft Worth. I mainly fw my home city Baton Rouge rappers now and still listening to old school Houston, Lew Hawk, 5050 Twin, Swishahouse, Magno, DSR, Freestyle Kings, Big Tuck, Big Tike, etc.
I still play all the HTown music heavily in my truck. Screwed and chopped. My nephews listen to it and think its weird. Now they always listening to all my shit. Arizona by way of Lubbock, Tx. Texas will always be part of me!
Not gonna lie... I'm from Upstate NY and really miss the Houston scene. Crazy how they went from all that to Trill Sammy. Not that he's completely terrible but it just shows how much times changed. Wish I had a time machine were I could go back to when shit like Three 6 Mafia "Stay Fly" was poppin 🔥💯
My nigga you gotta do atleast a lil bit of history before you ask certain questions lmao talkin bout was swishahouse and suc two diff things lmao I know you from dallas but damn!
try again. there's this thing called research, and listeners can learn from within a question all by itself w/o the answer...that way the artist doesn't have to clear up some shit that the interviewer lowkey should've known...
And he from Texas. Im from galveston and I aint even grow up on them like that, but I know damn well that SUC and Swishahouse was two fucking different things.
slim thugga was /is a tight as rapper I still sided with my ex boss lil flip when they had beef...flip/chamillionaire are free style kings... not a traitor...I'm always clover g for life ...
born and rasied in PA Texas always repping my town I live in Austin now but love going through the H and fuck around out there before I hit home!! RIP PIMP C Smoke Sumthin Bitchhhhhhhh
When Slim spoke on the potential lack of interest for a Swishahouse reunion he underestimated the fan base. Them boys are legends and would still sell today.
Man, coming up during the rise of DJ Screw, and the falloff of that. Love hearing these ''history'' stories...hell hip hop in general but still, this is special since it was near & dear. Respect to all the Southside MC's (the southside definition from the Lil Keke track)
Im from Detroit we rock wit eastcoast rap some westcoast ninjas but them houston Rappers got they own lane and stood tall!!! Will always be respected as pioneers of rap!!! Shoot out to Pimp C, and Bun B.( U.G.K)
