It's a requirement to open 5 slime gates and the ruins gate to get the credits. We jump over it to skip it's animation so we don't have to wait for it to open
Did you learn all of the techniques you used just by playing or did you find them somewhere? I want to start speedrunning the game but I don't know where to start
The routes and techniques were discovered by a lot of people, mainly speedrunners in the slime rancher community. Some tricks were found by me, some were found by other runners. the slime rancher speedrun discord is the best place to find help and ask questions - discord.gg/pxKRJJh I have a written guide here: docs.google.com/document/d/1rgFLWXvBl9ZTHGleh-vpO6jd3S8iyDB2OHMZcKopvfY/edit?usp=sharing I would start out by learning the basic movement techniques (energy management, slime jumping) and making some notes about the route for you to look at during the run.
The automated way would be having drones in each expansion with dervish, tangle and mosaic largos (best plort prices). You can also snare a gold gordo and cover it entirely with food (like 200+ food) so when the gold slimes pop out they hit lots of food and drops plorts. You can get over 100 gold plorts per gordo with that method.
what I like to do (since I haven't gotten to the glass desert and don't have drones) is just wait until you have something like 70 plorts in the plort collector, then just sell them all in one day.
There aren't many active top runners currently. 2nd place which is only 13 seconds behind might be taking a break after getting their own sub 14. There are quite a lot of new runners submitting runs each week but the only other "active" runner in the top 10 would probably be 4th place who seems to be running on and off when they feel like doing some attempts. I'm probably safe with the world record if I wanted to take a month break or something but if 2nd place or another top runner decided to start grinding runs again then I would probably have to start grinding hard as well.
after I got my first strong world record (14:26) it seemed a lot of new runners started running the game so I'm hoping when I get the next big time (13:29?) more people will pick up the speedrun.
