This lesson reminded me what Greg at TPI said when he spoke about 'disassociation'. This makes that term way more clear. Thanks for the lesson. Question: Is it safe for someone with a bad back to do this kind of move?
I use to think golf was so far ahead of us in baseball and that’s why I watch a lot of golf instruction. Watching this I think we explain GRF and Torque much better. At least the Instructors I talk and work with in baseball/softball. As they refer to ‘over the top’ in golf and Badeball we stand up to get the clubhead/barrel in line. I still learned something here, but the explanation could have been better.
Watched this video a couple of times and noticed something in Bobby's swing that you didn't point out and discuss. Pause his swing just before impact and look how far in front of his right hip his right elbow/arm is just before impact. I strongly feel a big reason many of us don't make consistent contact and get good speed is because we've already straightened our right arms before we make contact. I'm really curious if we spent more time focusing on where the right (trail) arm/elbow is and finding a watch to match it up, some of the other aspects like tilt/turn and rotation would follow as a result instead of being the focus.
I suspect you are right. Like which one is more basic? The elbow proceeds the shaft, and is closer to the swing center, so it influences the shaft position and not the other way around, right?
This may help. I'm a pipe welder, and when I take a weld test, the give us a piece of pipe to weld in a "6g" position. It covers flat vert and overhead all in one pass. So I guess I'm saying, there is not a single thing in our life from born to death, that we do in a 6g position. Because you ain't pulling,or pushing, kinda doing it all huh.
Wish yall would go into deeper detail on this. Creating speed, etc. Also, quit setting Milo up against these giants. Lol! That kids wingspan might be 7ft.
If this kids stance gets much wider he’ll be doing the splits. Golfers hit the ball a lot more consistently than baseball players ever do. Is that because the ball is moving or because sometimes hitters use arms instead of body swing!
Some people can be 6'4" and have a long top from the hips up to their head. Some can have very long legs vs md-section and head. I bet for Bobby it is very natural to have his legs this far apart with no issue getting from trail to leading side. I would also imagine he gets some added leverage with these long legs.
A lot of mumbo jumbo.... The kid is tall and strong, and number one, young. Simple physics. A tall young guy can hit it much farther than a short fat guy.
