Not fake , I have a 2011 mdx and my wife has a 19 q7 , I go to Lake Tahoe and big bear in the worst conditions . Sh awd is better . Quattro is still awesome but it has struggled more.
You're awesome for coming back to old comments. I've got a 09 Acura TL 305hp Shawd brand new set of winter tires the past winter and it demolishes any winter storm. Any hill ice or Snow
I don't get much snow, rain, or go off road in the high desert of the southwest living/driving 5000-7200ft. I like having sh-awd when we hit fast moving rain and snow storms. We can have temps in 60s/70s in town and have snow flurries on a 9000-11,000 foot hwy pass. I like sh-awd because of the 4 season capabilities, improved handling at 75-80 mph posted highway speeds, drives like a smaller vehicle at city speeds, or using tq vectoring driving in the mountain switchbacks. Acura MDX is very sporty and one of the best bang-for-buck awd systems for a 6-7 passenger SUV. Also nice to drive Honda/Acura for 10-15 years and 150,000-200,000 miles with mostly schedule maintenance.
Can't believe you remembered to follow up to my other comment. This is awesome, love seeing how the distribution changes on the dash! Thank you so much!
Wow. Systems that actually apply the brakes. Especially the Audi. But it also shows the downside of a brake based system. The engine has to struggle against the brakes.
exactly, on a rough terrain, that audi's gonna be done for in a matter of minutes, error messages such as AWD system overheated or ABS error or stupid stuff like that! While Acura only needs to use brakes on the front axle and also is not really locking the wheels, it's just applying enough force so the other wheel gets enough torque to cross the obstacle
@@1wasinAlpha ironically speaking, the Acura got the abs error in the video. Stop worshipping brands. Appreciate the ones that so good and laugh on the ones that do bad. Here both are doing great.
@@1wasinAlpha TC off itself wasn't the cause of an error. Car wasn't moving forward with three wheels spinning so the system got confused and disconnected rear axle. That happened in a few other cars, nothing unusual.
Amazing comparison! Yes, I'd say they are direct competitors, the newer SH-AWD/i-VTM4 system is even better (these older Honda SUVs have poor gearing for climbing steep dirt hills/softroading/overlanding), the youtube Jondz adventuring goes everywhere with his ZF9 Passport.
Sometimes "off" doesn't actually mean off when it comes to traction control. You can clearly see the wheels being braked on the Audi when the traction control is "off"
@@marcingruba7391 R u blind? Acura didn't need much acceleration to complete the tasks while the audi kept locking it's wheel that didn't need to be locked, which required much more effort and acceleration. Audi seems to be much more confused at what is happening compared to Acura!!! SO YEAH FCK THAT STUPID AUDI and Acura WON!!!
@@marcingruba7391 hes got a point, torque-vectoring AWD system even on the 2nd gen MDX handles pretty well on windy mountain roads. Objectively speaking, its "better".
wow, those two performed so well that the video even becomes boring to watch! 😁 Perfect I think I can even hear the audi's super aggressive ESP action in the video. My mate has a mk1 touareg (same platform) and its super loud too. But it definately does the job!
It's not the awd system indicator I'm talking about traction control light indicator. I don't see it on the audi test, so this video is biased. I think thus video is making audi appear better but in reality it's not. You lied in the video
@@badmandontdance There's an icon on the bottom left side of the screen, showing when ESP is off (not the traction control which cannot be turned off). In Q7, turning ESP off switches TC to more aggressive mode - people who have knowledge about awd systems can easily see it in the video. But you are not one of them. Q7 performed great but some other Audi models performed really poor - you can find these tests on my channel. So stop talking bs and educate yourself.
@@badmandontdance We show the Acura dashboard cause there's an awd system indicator. During entire history of the channel there was no other person with such a ridiculous accusation. You are the the one and the only 👍
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Acura only rely on E diff to control traction which is why when u turn TC it didn't move. Where as the Audi quattro system uses ABS to control the traction making it really good for this
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers so wrong. SH-awd does not use brakes they use real torque vectoring unlike Audi which uses brakes to cheat it. Infact the MDX in this video isn't even capable of using brake bias at all it literally cannot.
Acura looks to have a FWD bias, and vice versa the Audi. In the 3 wheel roller test, it appears as though the Audi stability/traction control is still alive and well even when turned off.
Search "MDX vrs competition" and click the ice hill video. This video is Audi propaganda. Also look up "how SH-awd works" most slept on vehicles. Just change your tranny fluid often and these cars last forever.
This video is not Audi propaganda but our channel video - independent. What you can see in ice hill video is actually the result of what you can see in our test.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers you're the one telling me it doesn't matter so you tell me. I was just pointing out the fact that one is diesel and the other gasoline which both administers low end torque and loads lsd's at different rpm intervals, something in which people in the comment section even noticed without obviously knowing the reason being. Have a good day sir!
@@montystevens1949 It would matter if it was tug of war or if the cars had a trailers behind. Otherwise the torque needed for these tests is very low, enigines are using only a few % of their capabilities, their max torque is completely irrelevant.
The audi cheated.. notice they didn't show the dash .. they didn't turn off the TCS when they claimed it did . Noticed no free wheel spin .. it was still auto breaking 😅😅
TCS cannot be turned off, it's always active. ESP can be turned off and that's what we did. With ESP off, TC switches to even more aggressive mode. Next time ask first before accusing of cheating.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers the assumption is the car is supposed to be moving, while rollers replicate somewhat a bit of that environment, you have to account for tires, temp, and the speed. Give that each vehicle behaves very different from each other. Being on rollers May affect the true capability of rolling on asphalt versus rolling on a metal surface, that would be considering you even had the same type of tires for both vehicles which most likely are different types of tires.
@@danielmelendez9943 Tires or temp do not influence this test. Speed - when slippage is detected, computer takes control over the throttle and brakes and it must decide what to do to make the car moving.
I have an Acura 2012 that exactly are to be precise the sh all-wheel-drive it's not all hyped up the way they make it you wanted to be seamen it's okay it does good like any other four wheel drive automobile but it's nothing Superior like that and you know I don't know why they always trying to act like it's the best thing since sliced bread but it's not as you can see it got stuck on the Block a couple of times but that Audi did not so quit playing with me
