This is not concludent for testing the performance of the four wheel drive system. This systems don't have a lockable differential and they are designed for different usage. Try the test again but use your left foot to press lightly the brake pedal.
No idea. Maybe tyres, maybe stiff suspension, maybe there was some dust, maybe reaction of the system was too strong. It happened a few times in the past.
Those control units were developed by bosch anyway... its about a braking system. Esp dsc etc. I don't think that audi or bmw is adjusting that system.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I'm right between Ingolstadt and Nuremberg. Should be no problem to come to these beautiful cities for a weekend again. My neighbour was actually from Wroclaw
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers it's fake because there are a lot of videos on youtube and in all xdrive it passed the test with 3 rollers even on your channel.
As I can see, the difference is not that big between them. Audi is better in lateral and front distribution of the power and/ BMW is better in rear distribution and the response of the system
Not sure about the Audi, but almost every x-drive owner knows to let all electronics on, and lightly apply the brake while the wheels are spinning. That makes EBD act like artificial differential lock. Helped me more than a few times on slippery surface. Which in theory can make car transfer 100% power on a single wheel.
Interesting. I love this channel, would like to see them add EBD to their tests. I imagine all moden awd/haldex-like systems would pass the tests with this method, but still interesting to see.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Great! I'm in the process of choosing new small suv for lease in few weeks. Good to see the real world performance of each AWD system.
Please, don't show us how the car gets on the rollers (0:22 for example), show only how the car starting on rollers. And side view that how on 3:44 is better, than small picture in the corner...
That's torsen. Here is video "How to discern Quattro Ultra from Torsen in a roller test?" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xNxHg7XDn1Y.html
So these systems are just a fancy name then? Why the computer still send power to 3 wheels without grip? I think Subaru all wheel drive system can send more power to the one wheel that has the most grip. How come the Big company like BM Audi and Merc can’t just program the control unit to do just that?
Because the cars aren't for offroad use but onroad use, so it's programmed in the way for handling best on the road… and if the tires without grip would kept spinning the car wouldn't know if they had grip.
Resullt of 530i is basically the same as 530d so what's not clear? We are always looking for the best throttle level to get the best result. 530i worked the best at low throttle and all systems ON. 750i needed more throttle othwerwise it wasn't reacting at all. Etc., etc.
@@borkasiamese4617 How about this Audi, was there not enough grip or did it lost the game? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3bJ6JOQR2C4.html
Test on rollers shows something, but, as these cars are not off-roaders something less important. It's time to do more sophisticated tests. I'm the owner of new model Q5 and what surprising me most is my car behavior in poor weather conditions. 170 km/h on german highway in heavy rain is nothing unusual. It even doesn't need ESP support to stay on the line, no matter on straights or tight curves. Due to this state-of-the art AWD ultra it almost breaks physics law. The same, i presume is with the other manufacturers modern AWD systems. It's impossible rather to do test in very high speed, but, in my opinion rounding wet circle would reveal much more than test on rollers. It doesn't concern typical off-roaders, of course. Poza tym, kanał jest ok, pozdrawiam duszę czemuś niespokojną. :)
Tests on rollers do not show any dynamic behaviour of awd systems, these are basic traction tests showing the ability of moving from a standstill or slow driving on slippery surfaces. And diagonals. Here's video about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-926i0zqteXE.html When it comes to Ultra - I doubt that awd is on when driving 170 km/h unless you are accelerating or losing traction. Staying on the line is rather a result of all factors (Q5 did great in moose test) than just awd system. Pozdrawiam, materiał wyjaśniający nazwę kanału już wkrótce :)
As you can see the BMW wasn't not bouncing. And when the car was about to start bouncing easley the driver immediately stop accelerating the car. But at the Audi you can see he start fast than he left the gas so the car can start bouncing than back full gas.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers nah the system is more intelligent than you think and it would easily get out of the rolls. I have seen other video with different xdrive cars they pas the test successful every single time. If you turn off your DTC the car won't break the other wheels and you will easily get out of the rolls in no time, the car start bouncing you left the gas so ofcourse the car won't never get out the rolls. But in other way you keep max gas on the Audi than you left the gas for a sec and max gas again the car start bouncing and you get the car out of the rolls. Quattro isn't anymore the best 4x4 car. Xdrive got over it with more intelligent system
@@worldisawesome6789 As I said - that's not drivers input. Bmw would pass the test if there was more grip - that's what is stated at the end of the video. If it was the matter of bouncing caused by the driver - Audi would pass it also with ESP on. But it didn't. Check the diagonal test of Lexus - the same situation. Looks like driver was pressing and stopping but that's the system: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0r2sWIjvaCg.html
torque is varying too much on the bmw, if it was a constant torque it wouldn't spin the wheel like that, it spun the wheel because a sudden increase in torque happened on that wheel, like dumping a clutch. Please test SH-AWD from Acura.
When it comes to torque - that is one of rare situations where tyres may influence the test. If the tyre had more grip it would probably moved the car forward instead of loosing traction.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Nope! :( Sorry for asking, is that a car or motorcycle? I got hyped that it is something based on RAV4 but I can't find anything. For now, the media I read is hyped about a new Toyota Harrier.
