I love restoring modifying or just plain old taking good care of a knife. When they are getting used they show wear and theres so many ways to keep up with our tools. We are doing a mod video rt now that we think people might like
Taking care of it buddy! File the shit out of the bolsters with a wet stone or file. I think I’ll do it to all my Cases! You’re a butcher I mean artist Sir!
I was just watching your last video again when I got the notification for this one. Lol! Those translucent stones are sweet man. I'm thinking about getting a couple stones from Dan's in a few weeks.
@@jeffsmith6441 it was a matte finish when it was bought. Great easterns aren't polished when they are sold. Only Northfield same company btw if you didn't know.
@@roughroosterknifesharpenin5531 yes sir I knew that. I'd like to own a Great Eastern but the ones I want always sell out quick. I'm on an email list now though so hopefully I can get one before their gone next time.
Another great informative video chris...I would have never thought of using a small diamond plate on those pins...now I know what to do with those old slip joints. I didnt get chance to comment on last video...but damm those are some nice translucents. I know you also look for coarse stones..I came across some naniwa lobster series stones that claim to be 36 grit...now I'm not sure if that's jis...but still...that would be one extra coarse stone...one caveat is that it supposedly is a fast wearer.... If I remember correctly is about same price as the baronyx "american mutt" if I pull the trigger will let you know.
Thanks man. I figured I'd throw something different in the mix. Don't know if I've ever seen them stones you are talking about. Yes them translucent stones are some of the nicest ones I've had
I have an old timer my grandpa gave me and the blade has started to get dark. I’ve never really used the knife, but would like to clean it up. Do you have any suggestions?
