To those of you who say Craig does nothing for the band (even though he does a whole lot more than some of the other members), let's just assume all he does is fire samples. Now, lemme ask you, would you rather have a dedicated synth player in the band who also fires samples, or would you rather have a fucking computer backstage playing backing tracks? The samples will be triggered either way, and for as many people that are even in the band's lineup, it'd be pretty fucking stupid to have backing tracks if you ask me. Another thing, Craig originally joined the band as their guitarist, and when they couldn't find a dedicated media sampler and keys player, Craig decided to switch over, because he knew how much that position was needed for their sound, and Mick Thomson ended up joining bc of that. Point is, he's not just some useless hired gun, he's been there longer than everybody except Clown, and he contributes a lot to their craft. If you continue to think he's useless, then you're either dense, highly ignorant and stubborn, or just a plain idiot.
plus he has contributed to writing in ALL of their songs, and also wrote some of the guitar riffs let's be honest, if he really was useless, Slipknot would've kicked him out atleast a decade ago
+Slipknot Forever i dont think the needles are made of steel (atleast not his newer masks). at 1:50 seems like a old mask with real one. at the beginning of the video you can see how the "needles" swing around
I made a checklist of how to determine what Craig is doing in a song Is it a guitar? : Not Craig Is it a bass?: Not Craig Is it drums?: Not Craig Is it percussion?: Not Craig Is it turn tables/DJing?: Not Craig Is it singing?: Not Craig Is it literally anything else?: Its Craig!
I know that Craig is a large contributor, but maybe when slipknot made this video, it would have helped the case to actually show some footage of him playing, because I have seen it before.
That honestly sounds like a good gig. Take care of the majority of the recording and mixing stuff, and get to perform on stage doing the occasional sampling part in songs. Not to bad of a job, tbh.
@@Frobbl bruh, video evidence shows that he's a fucking powerhouse in the studio. He doesn't move around on stage, but they'd sound lifeless without him. If you want someone who contributes absolutely nothing to the band, look at Jay. All he knows how to do is play basic ass punk beats, and fuck up all of Joey's parts. All 9 members from '99 till '10 offered something completely unique to their sound and live shows. The only new member that isn't a fucking disappointment is Vman
To those wondering, yes he does actually do stuff. Most of the keyboard/piano parts in songs are him, and he also does a lot of the effects, such as the siren from Pulse of the maggots (prominently heard in this video)
Hahhahaha you when all you can point out a member of a band did in their music is some siren from a song thats over a decade old then you just prove the point that he doesn't really do anything.
He is my favourute guy in the band his mask ... His apperance ... The fact he never talks ... The fact he is really good at technology He is all and all the most badass band member and i honestly couldnt care less if any of you think differently Hell sid and craig are probably friends You need to think before you talk
Craig isn't useless, I mean he does a lot of the different things in songs, but correct me if in wrong because in bit exactly sure, but I think he also does a lot with Jim and micks guitars
@Armonica 0 he has nothing to do with Jim or Micks signal chain. He doesn't control their guitars or anything live. Doesn't do any of the effect switching for the guitars. So noooo. You're wrong
Craig does pretty much all the samples in the self titled, all the way up to All Hope is Gone. Hell even the MFKR days he done the samples. For those who think he just stands and headbangs you are dead wrong, as a matter of fact, he contributes a huge part of the band, while Sid however only really does scratching. Craig is a lot more technologically advanced than Sid.
Craig never did samples for MFKR, that was all Anders and Clown. Craig joined Slipknot as a guitar player during the recording of MFKR after Donnie Steele left the band. After the album was finished, they brought Mick in and Craig moved to sampling.
isse94movie what does that even mean im pretty sure most guitar players do that themselves I think ive seen them have there own pedal Board in front of them why would craig control that
The thing is that a lot of people don't know about Craig is that he was one of the original guitarists before he got replaced by Mick. Craig is a big part of Slipknots history and one of first members of the band.
Not random, it helps cool air pass over his equipment. Mostly his older samplers which have a tendency to overheat, which mean they would malfunction or stop working at least until they were cool again. It gets hot up on that stage, especially if they are using pyro. His newer setup, as far as I’ve seen, doesn’t require much if any cooling on stage.
I hear some people complain that Craig rarely leaves his spot while he's performing. My answer is this: he probably has nothing better to do on stage. Lol
This whole "he never talks" is complete bullshit. There are tons of clips out there, where you can hearm him talk. For example the making off of Sulfur. There is a clip where he talks.
@@bradlee950 Craig is not useless. He plays keyboard and adds effects to the music, he's a sampler. Craig is the reason why Slipknot doesn't sound like a garage band
@TheAzzman1999 hey plays the samples and keyboards. By samples I mean sound clips from other sources (Example. The "Here comes the pain!" In [sic] and sound effect samples like in [515] and other numerous songs) he also plays the keyboards/Piano in songs such as vermillion and Danger - Keep away
Would be awsome if they made a come back. And was the craziest fucking thing to listen to. I want people to be scared shitless when they hear it. Slipknot forever
I’ve always wanted for Craig to do a side project of some sort, noise, anything. This dude’s samples are genius and have shown their true power against the test of time. Do you know how fucking killer a solo Jones project would be?!? Fuck
Craig is like a guardian for Slipknot. you know when a group of friends hanging out, there's must be someone looks odd but truly cares bout his friends. that's Craig for me
Ok to answer some questions. Musically Slipknot is veeery simple. you can play live EVERY Slipknot song with just 3 people. A drummer, a guitar/singer and a bass/chorus. BUT Slipknot its about the PERFORMANCE and the show they give you. (they wouldnt be using masks in the first place). Thing is, Slipknot old sound and style was waaay different from today's. If you listen to Mate Feed Kill Repeat it had songs with tons of noises, it didnt make much sense for a person not used to it, it wasnt like the metal band it is today that it feels like they even need to find where to fit Sid's mixes. DJs were a bit of a trend in 90's rock and they used a bit of rap in their songs. If im not mistaken Clown was the former drummer so when Joey appeared he took the place of a percusionist, idn where long nose guy comes in but i guess it looked WAY better having a tripode of drummers and man they are REAL SHOWMEN! Craig is just the Sampler, EVERY band has a sampler but its not considered part of the band, in this case he is considered part of the band so instead of being backstage he is onstage and yeah, in old Slipknot material Craig had the job to add some special sounds based on keyboards apart from being the sampler, but new material dont really need it so he just have the keyboards for all songs. Sid Wilson is the DJ which also looks a bit unemployed nowdays since All Hope is Gone. Two guitars to give more power to the riffs since both suck playing solos and last Corey that has a very catchy screaming noise AND he is THE showman of all showmen and Slipknot needed that. In other words, to PLAY Slipknot yeah, most are useless but to BE Slipknot all are equally important and it just wouldn't work anymore with 8 o 7 instead of 9 piece band. So just sit and enjoy the show.
Always loved slipknot and always will be my favourite band. I know them all exept for Craig, I used to think he did the turntables bit now I know he does sampling, I'm confused as to what that actually is? I love him and all but can someone give me an example of when he is used? I think the bit in (sic) where it goes "here comes the pain!" is used? Can someone tell me where else you can tell it's him? Stay (sic) maggots! \m/
Some may say he destiny do much but you can’t just listen to one song you have to isten to many songs. He also makes sure the bands sound is even and he does some of the guitar effects. He needs to be focused throughout the shows and he makes sure he is. He plays a big role in slipknot and anyone who can see that should step in his place for even a single song!
that makes sense but think of it more as a group of friends that not only play but also put on a great performance live and you dont see a whole lot of bands do that.
He is the sampler. Its thanks to HIM that Slipknot sounds like Slipknot and not like a garage band. Every band has a Sampler but its not considered part of the band. They operate backstage. In this case, Craig is part of the band and he operates onstage. Also in OLD Slipknot songs that included some distorted and weird sounds and noises, Craig was the one adding those with keyboards based effects. They almost dont do it anymore but for some little details so he mostly has the keyboards for old songs. In Mate Feed Kill Repeat and some Slipknot album songs you could appreaciate more of his work along with Sid Wilson's. Now, Slipknot has changed so much that even Sid appears to be a bit useless unless they play old school Slipknot.
This just shows how useless Craig is musically in the band. Sure, he's good for publicity with that whole ''Never talk'' gimmick and I'm sure he adds a lot in the studio, but for live, I don't really see what he does that Sid can't do. Hell, Sid even has a keyboard, and it's not like he is busy on that account.
plot twist, craig writes all slipknots music, yet the guy on stage isnt craig, its just his actor in his mask, craigs in the bahamas sipping a martini laughing
