Also, Joey was unable to play, if he kept being there, he would be going through hell, and Slipknot would be considered sloppy, which is a thing that could ultimately get you ripped off the labels. They were sorta sparing him, imo. And I get it, too.

I hadn't listened to Slipknot for 10-15 years, but I've been binging on them lately. Super glad, because I'm reminded of my early days as a musician (Joey, Mick and Corey!!!) and why I love them: they are true to themselves, creative as hell, and create a space like no one else. The motif in this song that becomes the breakdown is my absolute favorite part.

"Disasterpiece", said Taylor, "is my favorite Slipknot song. We started doing pre-production for the album in a warehouse in Iowa itself. I had laryngitis and couldn't sing a note, so I was writing a lot of ideas down. When I heard them play 'Disasterpiece', I just wrote 'No one is safe' in huge letters. I knew from then that we were going to rip the throat out of the world with 'Disasterpiece'. That was the lynchpin for the whole album."

Whenever I’m feeling depressed I just get alone in my room, listen to the lyrics of this song, and cry my eyes out. I usually break down after Corey says “withering away take a look inside, my soul is missing”. It brings me back to a dark past, but it feels good afterwards, and helps put things in perspective about my current life.
