Part of my 'Play it in standard' series, where I take songs original played in dropped/alternate tunings and find ways to play it in standard tuning, cause I hate changing tuning :)

Very well played! I hope for a lesson of this song in the future :D But can you tell me how you get this "Slipknot like sound"? Do you use a special amp, guitar or pedal? I tried a lot with my amp but i´m not quite satisfied with the sound :-)

I made a tutorial and tab for it, here you go: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YuVMlizZxlY.html In terms of the tone, I'm using the Line 6 HX Stomp with a custom built preset, essentially it's a amp sim with a tube screamer in front of it, most high gain amps (5150, Mesa Triple Rec) with a tubescremer in front of it can get this sort of tone whether real or virtual, plus using a humbucker in the guitar helped as well 😊

@@RickerbyMusic Yeah, i just saw the video after i posted this comment. When i´m done with the "Psychosocial" tutorial, i will have a look at this one. Very nice :D Thanks for the answer. I am relatively new and a little confused about all those peddals and possiblities to change the tone coming out of my guitar. But wouldn´t it be better to use a distortion peddal instead of an overdrive? I mean, we are talking about high gain genres and the research i did, told me, an overdrive doesn´t create that much of distortion as a distortion peddal. On the other hand i read, that Slipknot doesn´t use that much gain. So that worsens my understanding of the materia. I hope you can help me with that one :D Btw I am using a Marshall Mg30fx.

@@davidassing9223 So basically most of these heavy bands get their main distortion tone from their amps and then use an overdrive pedal without much gain to tighten up the low end and add a little bit more punch to the sound. The only time I would recommend a distortion pedal is if the distortion tone from the amp isnt that good, if that's the case then I'd suggest using the clean channel of the amp and getting a distortion pedal for your main tone :)

As I am used to only having one guitar most of time, I couldn't get away with constantly messing with the setup by changing tuning, so I just worked on being able to do everything in standard or Drop D 😊

Yeah man this song/album got me into heavier music and playing guitar in general, I kinda went onto other music as I got older but I will always have a soft spot for if :)
