The chorus vocals reminded me of Orphan ngl. Corey's screams are insane. Slipknot definitely has gotten more artsy over the years but I'm digging it so far
What love about this song and how it's mixed, is that you can really hear and feel the kick of the percussions alongside the drums. The drums only are freaking insane alone, but the percussions give it much more life.

I’m 100% certain Jay’s drums were a tribute to Joey. Heck, I even believe the whole song is, just listen to the dnb sample in the beginning, very similar to Eyeless (imo one of the most memorable performances of Joey). I miss him so much :(
but sad jay can`t bring it this thempo life....as he always disapoints in bit faster knot songs.......cause weinberg is far away joeys level playing drums
@@christiantheen3145 I think you just need to appreciate that Jay is trying his best. Sure, he may not be as good as Joey, but just because you say that doesn't mean he isn't a good drummer. Just respect the man for what he does. This type of drumming is extremely difficult.

I'm a huge maggot, I'm so fucking psyched for the new album, this song intesified my hype, sounds like a mix of Self Titled, Iowa, AHIG and WANYK, i'm fucking pumped.
They're really letting the drums and bass have fun on this. Feels like the "new guys" (c'mon they've been in the band for years) strut their stuff instead of being buried behind the original members. Maybe they've earned their number at this point?
Kinda sounds like an odd mix of 0.5, WANYK and Iowa but I love it. The drums go especially hard. I feel like this is the peak of Jay's career with Slipknot.
Dang that’s one of the first slipknot songs I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed from start to end! What a bop! ( I did also kind of like that “before I forget” track, but always considered slipknot to be nu metal that I don’t fully vibe with) starting to come around tho :) love your song react vids Nik ❤️
Love the reaction! At first I thought the song was meh with it just kinda all over the place (yes I know thats slipknots sound and structure) but it just sounded weird. The beginning 30 seconds had me quite hyped then the chorus just threw me off cause it was very stone sourish. Gave it a few more listens and its gradually growing on me more and more especially that ending breakdown. I'm hoping we get a few songs that remind us of that '99 era which is just absolutely pissed heavy ass music. I'm always open for their changes and I am definitely stoked for the album and no matter what they come up with ill always love them!
Best Slipknot song is the heaviest song in ages, I can't stop listening to it, Slipknot have been my favourite band since 1999 and no just get better and better this song sounds like it's an Iowa song just cannot wait until the full albumit's gotta hit me harder than my big brother hitting me hahaha

To me it sounds more like self titled due to the the high influence of sid's scratching and the newer stuff with dynamic time signatures plus Corey doesn't sound like he's been deepthtoating a pack of smokes before hand.

Agreed. I found this to be pretty "meh" and I really don't care for the chorus. They don't have another "Iowa" in them anymore and I really wish people would stop expecting it.
THANK YOU. I've seen so many damn ignorant comments saying "OMFG IOWA SOUND IS BACK!!" This isn't even remotely close. I liked how this song started but it just falls off for me. Could have been a lot better. I feel like the clean vocals had no place in this song.
I remember hearing this on the radio and I thought it was just a song from .5 I somehow missed. I'd much rather have more of this than whatever "The Dying Song" is supposed to be. In simpler words, I'd much rather see Corey knowing what the fuck he wants to do with Slipknot.
Honestly if you told me this was a extra track off of one of the last two albums I would not be surprised. Sadly imo it seems like they've just gotten a bit too formulaic at this point in their careers.
I mean they always say that its the closest to Iowa so far right But I guess its been slowly getting closer 😂 to me it sounds like it should’ve been on WAYNK, which was a sick album so not a problem
