gotta get in some kinda shape before hand but I am 27 and would love to get into gymnastics and learning how to play ice hockey. (I started that one at 21 but then I broke my foot and -- unrelated injury-- and havent been back yet as my endurance is non existant.") Plus I have never been able to do any type of tumbling cartwheel included. That would be a bucket list item for me
@joyfuljaj
@joyfuljaj 4 года назад
I would really like to learn at least a front walk over. I took tumbling as a child, but didn't get much further than cartwheel and bending back into a backbend. A backhandspring would be awesome. I wonder if anyone in my area would even consider adult training. I would love to even just try leaps on a springy floor and walk acros a balance beam.

Cody S. Casual fans typically underestimate how hard and how long it takes to learn a skill, do enough numbers to be consistent at it, and add it to a routine. Chelsie has a lot on her plate just getting the skills she already knows back into consistent high scoring routines...

Having a really nice double pike and sticking it with your chest up is so underestimated. I would love to see her do the Patterson on the laser beam to pit for kicks, but for real she’s got what, 2 potential Memmel’s on beam already?

I don’t think she should do the Patterson either. Her double Pike looks fabulous and I’d rather have the skills she’s doing now over the Patterson. You do you and what you feel is best. It’s your body and you know it best. Keep killing it! If people say your being selfish you say: hell yes I am because it’s my body. I am the only one who can read it and know. People can be so mean.

Tina Reutin I think she looks leaner here than she did a few weeks ago. Not that it matters of course, but that's just how it seems. That first split leap onto the beam was way over 180. I think being a judge might have helped her keep form and toes at the forefront of her mind a little more? I think it's crazy she's kept her flexibility. She must have been doing bits all these years while coaching to maintain it. X

I don't care who else gets on the Olympic team, I just want you to make it. And then I want you to win any color medal on any event, I don't care what. But even if none of that happens, I want you to know that you have given all of us "old gals" (over 30 haha) the feeling that we aren't too old to try. When Andy said "clocks not ticking" (not sure of the exact context) it made me realize something - part of what makes Chellsie's training so enjoyable to watch is she has nothing to lose. Her identity is not in being an elite gymnast, with intense pressure to peak in a very narrow window of time. In this case the clock is truly on her side, and years don't count against her. She has experience training, competing, judging, and coaching. It makes her a better, smarter athlete; her attitude feels very focused but more relaxed. Like so many others, I sincerely hope this is the future of the sport. It cultivates maturity and awareness, instead of feeding the cycle of abuse and negative self-image. I couldn't be more excited that these videos are getting so much attention. 😊

WOW! Chelsie’s body and form are sooo great! My goodness... She’s revolutionizing elite gymnastics! It’s sooo much better to watch grown up adults do it... Instead of little kids looking sooo stressed and pressured (and sadly sometimes even abused)! I say raise the gymnastics minimum age requirement from 16 to 18 please! Kids shouldn’t be subjected to all the pressure they do at such a young age... Chellsie is showing that adults can do it mindfully (and maturely knowing what and what your body can and cannot do) while loving it too!❤️

Your face when present after falling off on the split mount is hilarious 😂 Only for a split second but it was kind of a disappointed, toddler bottom lip out kind of face. Seriously though, I totally support what you say about the Patterson and other upgrades people suggest, it's you who's got to get through the routine and have enough energy. I love Carly but if you look at her routine back then there wasn't as much difficult stuff in her routine as gymnasts have to have now to get a competitive D score. Komova and Aly Raisman used to do it but neither were great at sticking it consistently. You do you, but it would be fun to see it into the pit - but only if you feel happy to do it. Well, a piked Patterson would in fact prevent cowboying deductions and it would probably be easier to control because it's piked and not tucked. However, it's probably a lot harder to rotate and darn near impossible to land but the fans can dream ahah. Jokes aside the double pike is indeed a respectable dismount and i think it is smart to keep it. Just want to add that i love your videos and i find myself waiting for sunday to come every week so i can watch them. You seem so full of joy and so happy to be doing gymnastics again and i think a lot of people would benefit from learning to keep fighting and doing what they enjoy even when everything and everyone seems to go against them. Good luck on the rest of this journey and don't forget that even though you've amassed a huge following because of this, you're doing it for yourself and you have no obligation whatsoever to entertain us. Don't cave in to our requests if you don't want to. It is YOUR comeback, not ours, but we'll still be here to support you :)

I'm still amazed at the amount of repetition and the slow build up that is required to put a whole routine together. So much patience and discipline is required! I really appreciated the explanation on why you go straight from the floor beam to the high beam. I've been wondering about that. It takes a lot of guts but seems to be a very effective technique for you!

I would love to see Andy do something, even if it's just 3 attempts at full turns on the laser beam and then never again

Hey chelsies can you do a Q and A one day? My Q would be, of all the skills where you fly through the air, what is your favourite and why??? Could be a bar release, beam dismount, vault. Or tumbling pass. . Oh and your top 10 favourite skills overall 😁. I've never done a double sommie, but I LOVED layouts. And flyaway off the bar 😁. That's about as great as my bar dismount d ever got lol. But it felt SO good 😍

I totally agree with not doing the Patterson dismount. We've seen Komova and Rebecca Bross stumble on this particular dismount in high stakes competitions. It looks easy but I'm sure it's very difficult!

The leo looks great! Always cool to see team USA gear from past years. It is amazing that Andy can see things that are happening so fast to give corrections when he sees the skills "live".I know all good coaches need to/can do this to some degree, and they didn't have phones to record high res vids in the '90s-early '00s, but I just find it amazing.

There’s no comment here. How? Also, love you Chells, I have a decision to wait for this premiere and watch your video or go to bed so I can wake up fresh for school. I’m really sorry but I probably have to miss your video premiere but I’m adding it to my Watch Later to watch tomorrow 😘. Can’t miss a single episode. I’ll edit this to update my thoughts. Edit: Chellsie’s vaults look superb. My oh my. When Andy says he wishes he could do this, you know, we can have Andy doing gymnastics too. Follow in her footsteps 😂.
