Slobodian Ukraine (also Slobozhanshchina or Slobidska Ukraina) - Ukrainian historical region, located in mainly in modern Kharkiv region of Ukraine, but also in south of Sumy region, north of Luhansk region of Ukraine and western part of Kursk and Belgorod regions of russia.
Name "Slobodian" comes from the name of cossack's vilages in so called "wild field" - sloboda. Wild field is the name of big land of south-eastern Ukraine in XV-XVII centuries, name doesn't means it was really wild - for polish lords any land without slavery where peasants can live and don't pay taxes or work in lord's field was "wild".
Center of Slobodian Ukraine - hero-city Kharkiv - is big center of industry, education and culture.
