Been a brilliant start to Slot’s tenure. My kind of football. Brave passes through the lines and less gung-ho. Also been impressed every time I hear him speak. Big tests on their way now though.
I don’t think anyone can prefer this style of football for entertainment purposes. But it certainly seems more effective at the minute. It’s defo not as entertaining though.
@@garycarey9376 Oh I definitely can. End to end football is only entertaining when your team isn't involved. At least for me. I personally don't enjoy watching us look like conceding on every attack. Also watching midfielders who can keep possession in tight areas and play intelligent passes is my idea of football.
Im with @splinter360 here especially if we are talking about 23/24 here and not klopps prime teams. Being that open was difficult to go through as a supporter and this is just the start of Slot, when it comes off it is excellent to watch and in theory that should be the case more and more with time
@@splinter360we took about 21 shots a game last season mate, this just isn’t as exciting, nearly every Liverpool fan I know says city bore the arse off them and we now play very similar.. I will give you the midfield play though, watching Mac Allister play balls around the corner this season has been beautiful. But I personally enjoy watching our players take shots.. each to their own though
@@garycarey9376 Took 21 shots a game and faced a tonne on our goal in return. I like this this style infinitely more than what we were doing the last two seasons. It's way more sustainable and structured. If you like frantic "We have a shot, you have a shot football" then fair enough. I don't. As for City I doubt their fans would swap all those trophies for more "entertaining" football.
Great show, and thanks for including that lovely heart warming bit with the young lad and his mum. Sometimes we all need a reminder that football touches people of all ages and all kinds, and they were two really lovely people.
I agree the atmosphere has always been hit and miss. I do think trying to get the crowd in earlier would be a big help, maybe have some live music on inside the ground? Chelsea 05 for example, I remember being in there by 7pm and the place was buzzing. They came out to warm up and you saw them shrink 👍 YNWA
Ian Wright made an excellent point about the contracts; obviously TAA is younger but he wouldn't make the difference between us winning the league or not, whereas keeping VVD and Salah wins us championships
On The atmosphere. I moved from the kop to Kenny dalglish a year or so back. It’s really noticeable from there how much has changed. The main things I see are a massive increase in people leaving early (why????) and also the clubs decision to increasingly sell corporate tickets - both in the anfield road expansion and the policy now of selling standard tickets as corporate but with basic add ins thrown in. Scandalous how you can’t get tickets in the ballot but could get a hospitality ticket in the week before a game if you are willing to pay nearly 300 quid.
Interesting chat as ever lads. Contract situation's a mess, but no point dwelling on how we got there, we are where we are & it needs sorting asap. Trent doesn't warrant being the highest paid player & Virgil & Mo don't warrant long contracts either imo. However, we have to protect their transfer value so we need to try & get them all signed up even if that's so we can sell them next year. They're 3 massive players we would need to replace that could easily cost £150+ mill to do so. We need the income if we're not keeping them so we can't allow them all (any?) of them to leave on a free.
I think Liverpool doesn't intend to offer contracts to all 3 players and this is the reason they haven't offered extensions because they don't want play music chairs where one or two ends up with no offer, so probably the 1st offer will come in February.
My Virg and Salah stance is simply, you can go and buy Bastoni and Kudus for a combined £200m+ and you would still be worse off than keeping the 2 of them. Trent is a separate thing imo
Konate and Diaz look DRAMATICALLY improved this season under Slot. I've been very critical of both but especially Konate. Prior to this season, I rated him along with Naby Keita as one of the biggest busts of modern signings. Injury prone and piss poor performance. He looks like a completely different footballer now.
If Trent really loved the club he would do something like Ronaldo did where he re-signed with Utd to make sure Utd got a decent fee. He did this again when leaving madrid. Trent needs to show some class.
It should be obvious that our fans would be watching the game with a lot more apprehension and uncertainty the first half dozen games of this season considering the change of manager from the legendary Jurgen Klopp so now it will begin to get back to normal so forget the outside noise it will happen naturally and be as epic as it has been over the years . Yous are giving it too much air especially when none of us can think of a ground thats always booming every week in the prem who's fans have the room to say their grounds atmosphere better than ours ! Virgil gets plenty of respect. To bring up Messi and Ronaldo is silly when talking about Virgil because not only is he a defender but the point is lost because there rarely a clear "better player" when comparing a Ronaldo and Messi. I put this on to listen to while going to sleep because TAW is usually knowledgeable and the guests know their stuff but things have obviously taken a turn given these new guests and their opinions. Seems kind of strange saying instead of buying players like Nunes give players we've already got new contracts when the minute the transfer window opens you crying cos we havnt signed a load of players like the summer just gone and every other time ! Not that I don't agree because I actually do but the difference is I don't cry for 4 new players every window like the majority ! I have to disagree with Mo. Trent is completely blameless in all of this! Trent has come out and said he wants to win more trophies? Who can blame him for looking around his environment and noticing we have owners who lack ambition in the most competitive league in the world! I’ve no doubt that if the owner’s ambitions matched his own then there is no place he would rather be! Let’s not forget Trent is a player we paid zero for, he would deffo be getting a massive signing on fee plus a huge contract at Madrid! So Trent finds himself in a situation through no fault of his own where he holds all the aces! And the owners find themselves where they have a £120 million asset that they are on the verge of losing for nothing😄!!! My stance is the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the owners not trents if he does decide to leave then he goes with my blessing and gratitude for everything he has done for us.
You really think a club like liverpool hasn't had conversations over the last year or 2 with a player like trent? unlike a birthday it's just not the kind of thing you forget especially when there's millions at stake! If trent has let it get to this stage then its been his decision

Its been like that forever. The Kop is the heartbeat and the rest of the ground responds to it. For the big games its always bouncing. Last game i was at was the home match against Bournemouth, sat in the main between dugout and directors box and it was loud. Loud for the game state. We've not had a big game at home yet.
