Great info, especially about the Aurora/AFX “squeal” when there isn’t enough oil on the lower pin between the 2 motor brushes.

yep friction causes heat and drag.A drop of oil eases the friction and heat allowing your car to perform better.

Brake cleaner is my choice for cleaning. Over oiling is a bad idea.

If and when your car starts to squeal it's been needing oil before it squeals.I I know when my cars need lube the cars will lose performance before they start to squeal.Just an observation from a 50yr love of H.O.slot cars.
