Slovakia is in shock a day after the shooting of Prime Minister Robert Fico. He was hospitalized with several gunshot wounds. RFE/RL's Ray Furlong reports from Bratislava.

Čítam vase komentáre a nestačím sa čudovať. Však ste tak ďaleko id reality. Vôbec nepoznáte Slovensko ani slovenských politikov a píšete bludný.
Certainly there is the argument that Slovakia has NOT shared in the promise of a rewarding and hopeful and dynamic and enterprising EU membership. The Economy is not as good as it could be. That said, I fail to see how embracing an ORBAN like Government system of Patronage and Corruption is going to benefit the average Slovakian any more than it benefited the average working Hungarian. Is Russia really the answer? Or is there just more work to be done to embrace the change that is necessary to open up Slovakia to more trade and opportunity and to root out the last vestiges of corruption like the people in Bulgaria still need to do to? It's easy to regress to past practices, but when I was in Bulgaria in 2000 for the first time, I saw a country in shambles with very high double digit unemployment and frightfully low wages that I though were more in line with the sub Saharan African wages. Cars on blocks missing wheels and buildings in Sofia with paint peeling and masonry crumbling, in the Capitol and worse in Burgas a major seaport on the Black Sea. So, I fail to see how regressing back to the Communist times vis a vis the new Mafia style of a Putin Russia government in Bulgaria or Slovakia will really help the people.
Bulgaria and Slovakia are not really comparable countries, but I agree that Slovakia has the potential to have a much stronger economy. The reason why this potential is being wasted is not the EU though, but Robert Fico and his party.
Dude, you're mixing up all the propaganda that's been pushed into your head. Slovakia is not Russia, nor is Hungary, Slovakia is Slovakia and the fact that the Prime Minister of Slovakia has a rational view of the conflict in Ukraine does not mean that he is "pro Russian", as they try to portrait him. He is pro Slovakia, which is very dangerous in todays EU... Make your homework, study first and then share your "wisdom" ...
@@luckyluckydog123I think he’s referring to the fact that it is based on the Russian flag. Not sure what that has to do with modern day Russian politics, but whatever.
