Among the great pop/rock stars of all time, and one of the great guitarists of our time. He doesn’t get the props he deserves because he has nice hair.
That lick at 5:50 is just insane. I’ve heard pretty much every single solo John’s ever done, but this is on another level with your eyes closed. Even for JM!
Emotionally Bittersweet and Beautiful!!! "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" is musically and lyrically like a marshmellow on a stick rotating on a stick over a camp fire. Melts in your mouth on its way into your heart. STILL on my top 5 best love lost songs.
You guys are nit picking this shit. He’s showing everyone who he is as A guitar player. He’s not quite getting the right note, he’s doing quarter bends and half bends. He’s innovative on the spot. That’s why he’s great! Stop waiting for him to be a better version. Just enjoy what he’s giving you
@@supercussion6590 I think some just have an unrealistic idea of what he is capable of honestly. They think John Mayer and think, one of the greatest ever. Then see him live and their world is shattered. Lol, people just don't get how much studios take over music nowadays.
The only problem with sitting this close is the sound coming off the stage gets to you a fraction of a second before the mains overhead. You can hear the snare drum hits sounding a bit "thick" as there are almost two snare hits instead of just one. Kind of a "flam" if you're familiar with your drum rudiments! We were the two best seats in the house that night after walking up to the ticket office 5 minutes til curtain! Literally in the exact center of the front row ....seats 20 and 21 in a 40-seat row. It was a bit tough having to deal with the lag time in the sound. But the visual aspect of being that close, sure made up for it. A bucketlist moment!
John,in this song very good vibes!, in vocal sound, "tears in your sounds strings" it"s crazy ,and beautiful , your talent is very since, prouve your "jam"s " with others guitarists legends. sorry thats is TRUE JOHN. jackyfan 👍FRENCHY. ......👍
If I'm not mistaken, that's because his PRS amp is meant for his Dead sound and not his own pop stuff sound (which his signature two rock does the best)
there is a slight lag between the live and the mains as the sound is picked up from the mic AND instrument itself. not a problem for electric guitar, clearly a problem for loud acoustic insturments such as the drums
There is no way the drummer is actually that bad. At first I thought it was just the sound traveling differently than the PA, but it appears the person who posted the video (and I assume was there) replied. If the drummer was really out of time, I blame their in ear monitors. There is no way that someone gets to play with John Mayer and doesnt know what theyre doing lol
I wish he’d actually play the guitar like he used to. Takes so much away from the performance him just standing there doing nothing with the guitar on his shoulders. He used to play his songs with so much energy.
He’s very good… BUT.. I hear parts that he plays.. sporadically… that show what he’s capable of doing… And he just doesn’t commit to the groundbreaking music that he’s definitely got inside himself… Maybe one day..?
He frequently stated that he loves very complicated guitar music but knows it doesn't sell, so he made a compromise on each album with a few tracks that he loves, and a lot of tracks that he knows will push sales so he can continue doing what he loves. So with him you really have to listen to every song on every album, dig out covers he did over the years, and go down that rabbit hole to get a feel for the range he actually is capable of. The songs that usually get pushed are his least favorite with the exception of Gravity from what I heard in interviews.
@@josibee3238 .. search for money and unbridled artistry are like oil and water… I don’t know the term for it now,but we used to call it “goin commercial “..😩
I admit he didnt sing so well in this performance but check out some other concerts of him. he is actually really good and its not easy to compose, sing and play guitar on that level
@@davea.4542 no , I didn't say that at all. Did you read the comment.? My main objections concern Mayers godawful singing, not his guitar playing. Though, I have heard buskers do just as well.
