Hi Roo Tech, just a brief note to say thank you so very much for this video. My Dell is now fast and efficient where before it was often unusable. Much appreciated!!
Don't blindly do the so-called bloatware removal. 30% of the apps disappeared from the Start Menu and could no longer be found when searching for them, like Mail, VPN, Skype, Recorder, etc.... Just replace the HDD with SSD and remove bloatware manually.
Last week I added another stick of ram to my laptop (16gbs) and the performance increased significantly. It opens programs way faster and performance in some games almost doubled. Pretty great investment imo
Just gotta say a big thank you for putting this out there. My computer was literally unusable right from purchase. At least now it somewhat functions. Thanks again, and I’m never buying a dell again
THANK YOU!!! What a huge difference making this a laptop, not a boat anchor. I have fought with this PC forever and trying everything. I have yet to get a SSD but, that will be next. Runs great as is now with mechanical drive. Once again...many thanks!!!
You are the man! I was about to throw my £600 Inspiron in the bin but your bloatware removal script and the SSD replacement (I used a Crucial 2T SSD) has turned this into one mega fast beast. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
OMG!!! Jus got Dell Inspiron 3000 yesterday. It is daxn pain slow and freeze all the time!!! This video SAVED me!!!!! Method 1 solution can see the result instantly!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
I've just done the first part and it has made a noticeable difference. I'm not confident enough to do the second part but I have a friend who is going to do it for me when he gets a chance. Thank you Roo
THANK YOU. Wish that I would have found this a few years ago. My son has been struggling with his laptop, but managed. I tried a few things in the past, and nothing helped. I did this procedure and the PC flies!!!! Boots fast. Used to be a few minutes before. Did a windows upgrade, and it finished in minutes not like forever. I honestly think that my original HDD was bad from when we got the laptop several years ago. HDD often would be busy doing something when we were basically doing nothing. Looking at the task manager, performance, the disk active time was just about always 100%, and the average response time was about from a few 100 ms to over 9000 ms (yes 9 seconds). Replaced the HDD with an internal disk. Had to create a USB boot device with a clone 3PP Acronis that I got when I purchased a cable. I booted from USB stick Backed up disked (full backup). This took 4 hours for 90G powered off swapped HDD with SSD (do not have slot for SSD like above) boot from USB stick restored from the backup (took 30 minutes) Then I did the bloat removal. This PC works fast like it should. Way quieter And I am sure will not use up battery as much.
i just applied both methods recently and was really amazed on how much it helped. Thank you very much. But i do wish he could have shown the timelaps on how much time it takes to copy on SSD, because for me it took 2 hours.
First method improved thing pretty well. I think I can use this laptop for few more years. Thanks a lot. Greatly appreciate your effort and time for putting this out there. You are life saver ❤
I have one of these and I replaced the HDD hardrive with SSD. My god it wa worth it. I'm not great with computers but managed it. I got a 1T SSD Samsung hardrive so far works like a dream 🙂
OMG - Thank you so much. I bought this laptop almost three years ago thinking it was useless and did not touch it until today I was going to buy a new laptop until I decided to check if I can fix this useless laptop and came cross your video totally by accident. I followed and did Solution 1 and now magically just worked. Cheers man - lifesaver!
I want to thank you for this video, as it opened my eyes to an easy way to fix my crappy Dell. There are a couple of things that were missed: if you have an optical drive, it needs to be removed prior to removal of the casing. And check your hard drive properties before ordering the SSD. I'm a little short on space with the 120 🤔
Wow, wow, on the Inspiron 15. Blazing. Used it on all my computers. I have the SATA drive to put in my backup laptop. I got to get the mirror image. Thanks.
Thank You! I have wanted to drop kick this laptop since the day I bought it and set it up for wife! Many curse words under my breath - and some out loud! I bought the Adata M.2 SSD - paid another $5 for 256- and "Bob's yer Uncle" it works smoothly and quickly. I didn't run the bloatware remover because I already upgraded to Win11 in hopes that would help. I guess the stock hardrive had such poor read/write/buffer specs it made the PC almost unusable, but the SSD fixed. You did the world a favor! On paper, the laptop looked pretty good but IT WAS NOT!
Doesn't work if the HD is encrypted with MS Bitlocker. Before cloning you MUST disable Bitlocker. The original Bitlocker key will not work to unlock the cloned disk.
Thanks for the info. I ordered a Samsung EVO Plus PCIe Gen 3x4500GB SSD NVMe M.2 from Best Buy for 27$ I hope It’s compatible and I’ll follow these steps to get it installed an operating system swapped over. Thanks again
Does it really take a while to load for the method? I hit enter nothing came up. Do i have to wait for it to say finished all task? Before hitting enter?
Followed the advise in this Video and the Inspiron 5000 started "screaming" - all the sluggishness went away and now it performs like most other high end business laptops. Thanks to this Video. The DVD optical drive presented a challenge to remove. But i removed the bezel and had access to the 2 screws hidden by the optical drive. But it was difficult to put the bezel back. Had to buy a new bezel from parts-people. Installed the ADATA 128 GB ssd and followed instructions to make it a boot drive and the performance improvement was immense.
Very useful video. My laptop is super fast now. I struggled a bit when opening the laptop for the SSD installation. Two screws need to be removed once the cd rom drive is removed.
Damn I have had one of these for 3 years and used it 3 times because it sucks so bad even compared to a $100 laptop I got like 10 years ago. Definitely going to give this a try. Idk how this is marketed as a business laptop when I can barely even run paint on it, let alone any adobe program
Hi. Your highly detailed and delineated directions make me feel confident I can do this!😊 Just one quick question: when dragging rectangles while migrating Windows to a new SSD and assuming I run out of space, how do I know HOW MANY GB to remove at that point? Thanks!
Exactly 3 years i thought i got the best laptop until i started overusing it. I literally has nothing on my laptop and it still lags a lot. Even with 2TB memory 8gb ram, AMD Radeon 530 graphics 4gb graphics
Wow, the same situation that I have been experiencing. Mr Dell Inspiron 15 5000 with Core i3 (bought in Sep 2019) is so sluggish that drives me so crazy. I have been suffering from this problem for 2.5 years. I could not work for 2hrs because of Mr Dell. It was so lucky to see this video. Mr Dell disastrous performance really makes me understand that substance over form.
Thanks a lot man, this helped a LOT. I’m going on a quick vacation soon and needed my laptop to not suck eggs. Quick question though, after migrating Windows to my SSD, can I uninstall Macrium?
I have dell 5567 , where i have to buy a caddy because there is no ssd slot , was slow as hell , not detecting the caddy spend more than 5 hours to fix that .. and now the laptop is like super computer 😅 , thanks for this video
even i have same model dell 5567 , it is very slow from the day i bought it even hang on most occasion, response time is like hell. What should i do to make it faster bro please tell me...Please
@@tech6821 I'm happy with my laptop performance now , it boots up in less than 10 seconds , There are two options 1. Change your HDD storage to SSD , if data matters to you first copy whole data like shown in this video . 2. Or run SSD and hdd side by side using a caddy like what I did . The only solution is SSD nothing else if ram is only 4 + SSD it will still work like charm
@@Zackking109 Thankyou for the suggestion. One question if i run both ssd and hdd side by side using caddy so is there any data loss from hdd? And other thing. your laptop overall perfomance also becomes fast or just boot up time?
I bought a ssd for mine it went from a 1tb hdd to a 512 ssd and ram was upgraded to 16 gb. I’m The ssd is going to be the biggest help when it comes to speed.
I just factory reset and removed all programs, updated dell drivers, updated windows, updated AMD drivers. Then downloaded mcaffee firewall but turned it off. As if you don't have a fire wall windows 10 will use its own and it slows down everything... but it's fine now and runs world of warcraft 😊
Hi RooTech, looks like Free Macrium s/w dissapeared, they only offer a free trial one. Will using this version for cloning windows on to the new drive still work after the free trial period. Any other options? Thanks!
I had a very slow Dell 5888 and I have two solutions for it: 1- Buy an SSD harddisk and use it to install Windows 10. The speed of SSD will make a world of difference. 2- If you don't want to buy a new SSD, DON'T USE Windows 10. Instead, Linux Ubuntu or an even lighter version of Linux _like Lubuntu_ will run quite fine with no slowness issues.
I pasted it to the powershell, and it's taking forever. It looks like it's setting up with all the green and yellow font colors but i never saw that in your vid. Is this normal?
Hello there. Thanks for your video. Even thou I have a different type of HDD, I followed your advice to the letter and it works. My Dell Inspiron is the fastest computer in the house. Thanks again. Do you have a specific method for a Lenovo X300?
Hey there, excellent video, I need to know if instead of your SSD ADATA, Can I and Should I use SSD Patriot P300, 128GB, PCI Express 3.0 x4, M.2? Greetings, and hope you're doing good.
We've done the first step and laptop is much faster thankyou for that excellent tip. We've ordered the 120 ssd too. With the SSD will it only have the 120gb memory or does it add to the 1tb? Or am I not understanding what it does?
hello. i am living in Turkey and buying laptops/computers/televisions are VERY VERY expensive here. So i just want to ask you. is it really safe? i dont want to lose my 1 year work ... pls answer My laptop is Dell İnspiron 5593 i5 10th gen 1.00 ghz
This video does help greatly. Thank you. The only major issue I had was When cloning, my version of the software did not have clone partition properties. I made sure I had the most up-to-date version and everything but wasn’t able to figure that issue out. So now I need to resize the SSD but I’m not really sure the best way to do that. Any suggestions would be great thank you.
Yeah, I had an old 2014 inspiron 5000 5520 and it take 3 minutes to open then I replaced the hhd with ssd and it had i3 3rd gen but it takes less then 10 sec, and i did this same with my uncle's old laptop and his i3 2nd gen work super walk. People waste a lot of great tech.
