The future of teenage girls in Uganda is at risk. Statistics show that 25% of Ugandan teenagers become pregnant by the age of 19. Close to half are married before their 18th birthday. 22% of women who die while giving birth are teenage mothers. New HIV infections are more among young girls and boys. Worse still, most girls are dropping out of school leaving their dreams ruined. Depression and mental health is equally increasing, with suicide cases becoming common.
This song is a call to action for parents, teachers, leaders and the communities at large to stop teenage pregnancy and early marriages as well as defilement, rape, sexual harassment and sexual assaults. Remember that it is our responsibility to support the young people to thrive.
