After three weeks of selling on EBay and only having 12 sells under my belt. I finally found my niche and the sold listings are a game changer for me. My goal is to try and source items that has a high STR and will resell for atleast $20 dollars or more

I don't really price things based on STR - I only use STR when deciding whether or not to buy something to resell to understand its supply versus demand and get a rough idea of how long it will take to sell. I price things by looking at active comps and sold comps and calculating rough averages of each. STR is going to be most accurate when your search is excluding items that do not match what you have... so filtering is smart. However, the only filtering I usually do is condition - new or used. I don't bother with filtering for size or color, but may include in those in the search terms to be more specific. Thanks for watching!

Selling 150 items worth $2-3 a piece separately is not really worth your time, so you should definitely lot them all up together. If it were me (I probably wouldn't have bought this in the first place but if I did) I would list them all together in one big lot. You should also consider the supply and demand of these items. There are over 180,000 listed on eBay and only 13,000 sold over the last 90 days. That is a pretty poor sell through rate, so you should expect it to take a long time to sell because there is way more supply than there is demand. Of course it could sell sooner, which would be nice, but seems unlikely unless they are particularly valuable or in higher demand than the garden variety happy meal toy. For additional context, let's say you spend 4 minutes listing each one, that is 10 hours to list all of them. At $2-3 a piece, that is a maximum of $450 when they are all sold, which will take forever (think years not months). Take out your cost of goods and that is $410, then another 13% for fees and you're down to about $350 in profit for 10 hours of listing. It'll probably take another 4 minutes of time to ship each one as well, so really 20 total hours for $350 of profit, or about $17 per hour over the course of many years to fully realize.

Great question. It really depends on the particular item. If something has a low sell through rate, but very high ROI potential, I might go for it. On the other hand, I sometimes buy things with a relatively low ROI but high STR just because I know it's going to sell very quickly. It's more of an art than science, and depends on your own personal preferences. You get a feel for it over time. Thanks for watching!

Yes I do this with most items, but I usually don't do the full calculation in my head. I mostly get a sense of the STR, if that makes sense. I look at how many active there are and then I check sold to get a sense of there are way more active than sold, way more sold than active, about the same, etc. After you do this enough you just get a feel for it without actually doing the math. As for calculating average sold price, it's kind of the same thing. I am not actually calculating an average sold price when out sourcing, I am just getting a feel for it. I take a much closer look when I am listing so that I can more accurately price it.

You're right, I should have been more clear here. It's hard to say what a "good" STR is at is very subjective! For example, if you have an excellent inventory system and ample storage you may be willing to buy things that take longer to sell versus if you're in an apartment and storing all of your inventory in your bedroom where you want to turn things around more quickly. Also the potential ROI also impacts what someone might consider a good or bad STR. For example, i might buy something with a relatively poor STR if the ROI is high. Or I might be willing to go for a lower ROI if the STR is high and I know it'll sell quick. It's more of an art than a science, and something you should seek to figure out for yourself once you know how to check STR. Thanks for watching!
