I have been gardening all my adult life and have experienced times when we didn't have an outdoor cat in the neighborhood and then we had an explosion of chipmunks and moles. Now we always keep an outdoor cat of our own to keep the rodent population under control.

The thought that people just dump animals is just so sad to me. I’m glad the strays aren’t getting in to your food beds. I’m hoping my zinnias for seed heads here in zone 4. I planted them earlier this year so hopefully I get to that stage with them as I’d love to save seeds! Thanks for sharing your morning with us.

I am over run with squash bugs this year. Everyday I'm out there scraping off eggs and spraying my soapy water asking myself "is it worth it?". The answer is always "yes". I can't let the bugs beat me!

My mom always grew a row of dinner plate Dahlias in front of the vegetable garden. They were stunning. I need to revive that tradition. Love the improvements you’ve made to the cottage/raised bed garden. I have several sets of plastic stacking chairs scattered around the garden. We move them to various areas where we’ve been working. A few nights ago my husband and I were setting in our chairs outside the garden but with the gate open to see into it. We get get different perspectives every time we take a “sit down” and I love it! Not only is the view ever changing, by taking time to sit and study the garden you can really see what works and want doesn’t, what needs attention soon and what can slide. My husband hurt his back in May and has to take a lot of breaks so we’ve spent more time on our “sit downs” than before and it’s been so enjoyable. Having a pavilion type sitting place that is a focal point is fantastic and is a great place to get in out of the sun and rain, however having easy mobile seating is a must as well. Life is short…..take a break and enjoy your garden.

Hi, I really love your videos. I'm New in Quitman, so its my first year gardening here. I'm doing the waiting game with my green beans . Its cooling some, a little lol, so I'm hoping those flowers will produce. My asparagus bean does great. The nice thing about this bean is that its long, and no strings. They taste great too. I canned some up and that's looking good too. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to winter gardening. You plant I follow along. :)

I started my "Otis" this spring, then found out I did not have time, or the want to bake in the hot summer. It is now in my fridge (I split it a few times) just hanging out until I am ready to use it. I watched numerous video's on how to keep it dormant. Otis and I will be engaging this Fall for sure!
