Not this time. It's River's Grandfather's fuckup that's central to this one.

It was established from the first book that characters that you might like to see continue can actually die (Sid Baker(maybe)) or be written out (Struan Loy). This is what gives the stories real jeopardy (see also Game of Thrones, as opposed to superhero movies).

@@steven2809 no, it's Oldman's character that hasn't really been more than the farting one dimensional icon. They have left it there since the first episode. I know he must be getting a shit ton of $ for this and he's done roles for money before so maybe he just doesn't care about leading into more depth but it would be great... Going from Smiley to Lamb is remarkable enough to watch but i wanna know more about his past and what got him here.

@@KennedyCopy No, I disagree that his character has been 'one dimensional'.... you need to look beneath the surface of his actions. In particular his harsh treatment of River is meant to spur him on to better performance. It's his version of 'tough love'... but we will leave it there 🙂

I was thinking the very same thing and the tie-in to Slow Horses could be phenomenal.

Book four is a shakeup he seems to do that with the even numbered books. Min in season 2 etc.
