I am a 61 year old retired NYC Firefighter. I have been watching you and Elizabeth fishing for a long time. When I watch you slow pitch fish you seem to have less problems bringing in fish with these new GoMexus reels than you used too. I have gotten several surgeries because of injuries due to my daily duties as a firefighter. Mostly all my injuries are to both my shoulders and elbows.I need a smooth running reel that is light weight and strong enough to bring in big fish. I go to Florida and the keys at least once or twice a year with my wife Elizabeth. I would like to come back from a fishing vacation not in as much pain to my shoulders and elbows. I go out in a boat either by myself or on a private charter at least 3 time a week. The other days I find myself on one of the bridges fishing with my wife. I love fishing so much that I will go through any amount of pain to do it. I think to own one of the GoMexus reels would help me a lot, especially on how much I fish. Thanks, BOB H.

Definitely try the small Gomexus reel with a Goofish rod. Not nearly as strenuous as normal fishing rods and the slow pitch movement is much less taxing on your arms and shoulders. We have both on our website

I’ve been watching these reels, very interesting! I also use left handed reels for baitcasting with my Ambassador 5000 C. You can bring your bait to bare on the fish quicker without having to switch hands. Thanks for your help, Jeff

I just sold my boat and purchased another larger boat to get me out to deeper water to fish for better grade of fish. I love jigging and only use to jigging with spinning outfits. I would love to set up a good slow pitch rod and reel outfit and would love to have one of those. Funds are tight since the boat purchase so I would love to get one of those. Hope to get this new boat in June. Tight lines Captain

These reels are actually rather small by design they are really light (11 & 14 oz). Slow pitch jigging is really light, but tough rods, reels, and lines.

Finally! Someone with the same "left hand" philosophy as me! Thanks for the review. Was thinking about pairing one of the LX50 reels with the Goofish Black PE 2-4 with right hand spiral. $380 set up. Most affordable, best quality for the money balance for a first SPJ rig I think there is.

So I also have the exact same setup and thought it would be a great first setup to see if I liked SPJ. Well I love SPJ and found the setup to be perfect. No need to ever go out and spend a thousand dollars or more on a rod and reel setup. The Gomexus reel and Goofish rod work perfectly together. Hi Dan, my son and I are also just starting to do some slow pitch and like you said. Some of the equipment is truly expensive. We were using the BG 5500’s and were catching Amberjack, man what an experience, if we don’t win the giveaway we will definitely check these out, we need more power for those reef donkeys! I love the LX50! I've been using mine for over 3 years now. Always wanted an SX450 though. Keep up the great work Capt Dan !

SX 450 has a manufacturer defect with the gap between spool and body or fame of the reel. The large gap causes the line to get behind the spool causing the spool to lock up and you have to disassemble the reel to get the line out of it. Funny thing is I have yet to fish mine but Paid $25 to get repaired and went to use it and I be damned the line again behind spool handel locked up . I tried contacting Gomexus 3 times with no response from them.I myself am a Avet and Accurate user but Gomexus reel looks really nice and well made and are a dull drag reel. But be warned the 450 Sx is in need of the gap between the upper part of spool and frame needs re-machined to eliminate the the 16th to 1/8 " gap to fix this issue.

Sounds like a great real love your show I am in Charleston sc loving it here but new equipment would be so much appreciated I have much to learn here and I am sure I would find much use for that gomax hope I spelled it right. Well I’m here in Las Vegas Nevada and I go fishing a lot in California and Dana Point and that would be amazing for me to have and then also I have Lake Meade which has beautiful say strivers in a deeper Waters and lake Mojave so I would love to enjoy that so thank you

Oh yeah, any species you jig for including strippers and yellowtail would be perfect for these reels.

On all of your recommendations I bought a brand new LX50 on ebay. I got it yesterday, & found the drag knob would not turn *at all* (like it had locktite or 2-part epoxy in the threads)! I eventually got it to move using pliers, but that screwed up the drag lever, now the lever hardly moves & there is no drag at all! Curiously the US ebay seller has a Florida reel repair service right in their listing....now I know why. The US seller says I have to ship the brand new reel to Florida, at my own expense. So I called the Florida repair place & they said I need a bill of sales for warranty service....the seller did not include any bill of sales. So I guess it's nice to get free ones from Gomexus that they made sure ran right.

Why didn’t you just return it immediately if you received a defective reel? I bought a Penn spinning reel that the nail would not close properly and returned it right away for a replacement. The replacement reel worked fine. On another note: you could have ordered from our website. Would have been no problem returning a defective reel.

@@FloridaFishingCouple The seller wanted me to send it to the repair place instead of returning it to him. He would then send a new reel. w/ tracking, which isn't working yet? So I would ask you, have you ever adjusted the drag knob (not the lever) on your LX50? I would really like to know? Mine wouldn't budge, & I found out why. Yes I should have gotten it from your website (brain fart)....I really like your videos, & the others South Florida!

Really nice looking reels. Jigging in the Ocean is definitely the most fun for me as you never know what's going to hit your jig. I would love to give these reels a try. hopefully one day in the keys. see you next Sunday Brian

I have been watching you and Heiko start to jig and now ya got me eager to try. Planning on a day trip out of KL 3 weeks for some tuna, hoo and mahi, hopefully the seas cooperate.
