Travelling is my favorite thing to do and I'm learning to travel slower.
This can mean a lot of different things, for me it means that I simplify my itinerary (or have no real plans), take the back streets, try to stay in one location longer, rent a home, meet locals, or use slower modes of transportation, like a bike, enjoying the journey as much as the destination. But in general I think the key to slow travel is just focusing on where you are instead of always thinking about what's next.
The quote mentioned is from this article: www.hiddeneurop...
Also I'm really sorry I haven't uploaded on this channel in a long time. I'm trying to get better organized with a filming schedule and hope to create more videos here. Thanks for you patience :)

I would travel more often if I had the time and money to do so. However, on the weekends I like to do short trips to nearby countrysides and places of interest. That way I get to experience a different environment and completely unplug from daily life. Travel doesn't always has to be something that takes place far away from home. Sometimes it's fun to pretend to be a tourist in your own hometown and explore different parts of the city you live in. That way you can enjoy the benefits of travel everyday and anytime.

Great point! It's really exciting to explore and look at your hometown from a different perspective, visit other neighborhoods and find new cafes/restaurants or things do. Even something simple like taking a different bus route can help you discover new things! :)

My husband and I became motorcycle enthusiasts in the last 5 years! We each ride our own motorcycle and with minimal gear, travel on back roads to many cities, small towns and villages. This is our preferred way of seeing our beautiful country (Canada) and exploring our neighbouring USA. We see our travel time to the destination as a journey and enjoy every moment in the landscapes and cultures. Thank you for this post! Thank you for your beautiful channel! Caroline

I made the mistake of not doing this when I went to Rome. I visited all the main sites, the Colliseum, The Forum, Pompeii etc. but when I came home again I felt like I hadn`t really seen those things. We were always moving from place to place to see everything without really seeing them. I would like to go back and just sit opposite the Colliseum for a couple of hours and just soak it in. I think this is why so many people return from a holiday and say that they need another holiday to recover from it. Great video, thank you.

I can totally relate! It's definitely difficult to find a balance, especially when you go to a place where there are so many interesting and unique things to see.

When I travel, I like to go to parks, pedestrian walkways, and alleyways. I eat at local restaurants and buy food at specifically focused markets. Getting closer to the community is the best vacation experience.

Slow travel is how I vacation. I find this option more relaxing and enjoyable than the rush to see everything tourist-type travel. Airbnb.com is an option that helps benefit real people, rather than big chains.

Completely agree with the idea of staying in apartments/houses rather than hotels!

Love this. No wonder sometimes I feel like a need a vacation after my vacation, because I'm tired of running around and trying to do too much. Thanks for bringing this up. 👍🏼

I absolutely agree with you about your way to travel. I would add one thing to slow travel, however: delve deeper into the lifestyle and culture of the destination you are traveling in. That's what we are doing on our travels in addition to what you mentioned in the description of your video.

I own a 22ft sailboat, and next summer my daughters and I will be sailing up Seneca lake, through the Erie Canal and down the Hudson to Manhattan. Then around the statue of liberty and back up. You can get to places and see things by boat that you will never find in a car. We plan on this taking about 6 weeks, but we aren't sure...It's eco-friendly and a great learning and bonding experience for us all. I'm hoping to create memories my kids will have for the rest of their lives.

If you like scenic routes - have you been to Switzerland and I mean not just for a few days. I live here and it is more than gorgeous.

I agree about many things but especially "staying in apartments" Airbnb is a great source for this. I feel like paying for the place to the people who live there is a lot better than paying it to a big hotel company that just makes money and underpay the staff. I also try to find houses in different areas other than touristic areas. That way I can sit in a cafe, read my book and watch people getting on with their lives, I don't watch tourists running museum to museum. Great video! :)

Yes! Love Airbnb! I agree, it's much better to rent from a person than pay a big hotel company. :)

This was beautiful. I don't travel as often as I'd like (which will hopefully be changing soon) but I'm definitely going to keep this in mind. I've always been a "see as much as possible" kind of person and it's exhausting. I love the concept of slow travel and soaking up the memories instead of rushing around.

Thanks! I also was a "see as much as possible" kind of person and it's a tough habit to change, I'm still working on it. You're totally right though, it's exhausting. It's so nice to be able to just enjoy where you are and avoid the stress and rushing around. :)
