This randomly appeared on my suggested videos and I’ve never heard of this band. My older brother’s name is Richard. He’s a bipolar schizophrenic. It’s been a huge suffering for my family because he refuses to take his meds. He’s been like this for a decade now. Wow, I can’t believe I forgot about this song. This was my favorite band in high school, in fact the reunion tour was my first ever concert. I remember begging my dad to let me go. Years later I start listening to them again and find this song. You see just recently my friend passed, and his name was…well you can guess. I thought this song was haunting before, but now the lyrics literally give me chills.
A strong hint at the direction they'd take wth Mojave 3. This sounds like it could've been pulled off of "Ask Me Tomorrow". Slowdive has so many unreleased songs and b-sides that are absolute gems
I know, the slide guitar and simple acoustic arrangements etc. Actually, I think it was at least partially recycled into "Tommorrow's Taken": the chord changes, and the "miss you and your light/life" line (one of the only intelligible ones on this recording).

This track was written between Slowdive breaking up and the. first Mojave 3 album . Neil is the only person playing on it and singing ..it's his demo. The song changed slightly and was given to Rachel to sing . It became the song 'tomorrows taken' on the first Mojave 3 album 'ask me Tomorrow " x
I think this was the first Slowdive song I ever heard at the end of a long night of insomnia in the eerie weary dawn and I was mesmerized by the enigma of it.

I'm working through Slowdive's back catalogue. They could have made another couple of albums with this stuff. Pity the record companies were so driven by $$$$$
The emerging popularity of Grunge in the US and Britpop in the UK really did sour the scene for record companies, didn't it... It's not even that those genres were bad, but record companies were so incensed by money that they threw shoegazing into the limelight without recognizing the good (and profitable *ahem*) music that could come from the scene. If only they gave 'em a little more love...
/watch?v=pz4joc_fc4s "I saw the sun" was an album (maybe even two) of music that they produced before Creation made them scrap it. Along with this song, there are many excellent songs like "Sleep", "I believe", and the eponymous "I saw the sun". I believe there's lots of other demos floating around, and for that you may need to take to the RU-vid recommendations ;)
There's not enough men called Richard, perhaps parents feel odd calling babies Richard, as it's such a formal sounding name. I predict it will make a come back.
It is interesting how songs that were not the content of an album are better than songs that were part of the content of a 100% constituted album. And without a doubt, Slowdive is the best example of this. And we could say "I want this on Spotify" or "I want to hear it in studio album quality," but come on: that scratchy, retro, lo-fi sound is a plus here.
I don't know when this was released but after watching the Pitchfork documentary I can imagine it was part of the demo's that Creation's ditched after their first major album Just for a Day (which was release after their promising debut EP) which got bad reviews and was the start of the overall decline of shoegaze (other genres like grunge started to become more popular). And thus Creation dismissed a lot of Slowdive's demos onwards and put pressure on them which finally led to Souvlaki. Alyway, it's a pity these demos haven't been released officially.
Take it from someone who was your age when Slowdive and similar bands appeared, the same would have happened if you said that to most people even back in the day. Sometimes it takes years to find a group of people or person that shares your eccentric, non-mainstream taste in music.

It's like the instrumental takes your mind and runs away with it. Takes you to a place that is so familiar, kind of like a ecstacy feeling. Then reality is set again once the singing picks back up, reminding you that you are In the present and no longer the past

I am going thru major changes in my life. Cut ties with my current bjj gym and switched to an MMA gym after I won competitions and they discredited me and didn't support me, which was extremely unfortunate. It was a huge wake up call that I can be somewhere else and have my competitive side encouraged and valued. Plus people my size, better schedules, etc etc. Woke up one day in a cold sweat and knew I needed the change. Saw the ufc fighter who trains striking at said MMA gym the same day and talked to him about it + saw the pro who has promoted this gym for me for a year when I wasn't mentally/physically ready for it yet. He still believed in me. Tomorrow is my first day there after a trial class. Excited for the future and to see how poorly/good this ages. Unbelievable how slowdive's demo's / unreleased songs are soo stunning. Sleep is my favorite but this is now my second favorite.

Maybe you have this problem but my problem is way worse It's weird to see how everyone is pure and happy but me im stuck in a gas station and working for hours only get 30$ per day while the owner counting money for days
