Slowstitches - Seed Stitch 

Take my breath away! Be still, my heart. Your work is like an ancient, magical story. The last piece you show us, I see as the bodice of a long muslin dress. A bridal gown, a fairy story garment. Ive been trying to improve my quilting skills, but you have unexpectedly reminded me that many, many moons ago, I loved stitching designs onto fabric, until it was quite heavily patterned. I then used the fabric as panels in the dresses I made. Thus was in the long ago years of flower children and barefoot hippes😊 You have made my heart happy at the bedtime end of a long, tiring day of uninspiring chores. Thank you so very much.

So happy to have found you! I have been stitching for 60 years and am thrilled to see yet another resurgence of the art! You are so relaxing to spend time with. So looking forward to following along with your 2024 project. I'm having both shoulders replaced next year and will always be watching... and stitching when I can. Take care!

So freeing to be given ‘permission’ (at the age of 72) to use a knot! When I was a child, my mum was insistent about no knots, as were the sewing nuns at school and my quilting teacher - she’d make you undo your seam if she spied a knot!

Lovely; didn't know this stitch (seed stitch); I'm giving it a try next. On a tangential note; to clear the throat drink pure pineapple juice (the 100% natural kind). Opera singers use it before performing, if there are any issues. (p.s. avoid if allergic to pineapple of course).

Serendipity brought me to your videos. I’m fascinated by your stitchery - that something so simple and unsophisticated can result in something so visually compelling. I keep looking at your work, asking why it’s so captivating. The meditation rolls are beautiful. Anyway, it got me thinking that perhaps your techniques could be the solution for saving a very fragile quilt made by my grandmother in 1939. It’s in the “grandmother’s flower garden” pattern of hexagons cut from my mother’s dresses when she was a child. But the quilt was so loved by all of us that it has begun to fall apart. Do you think I could add new little swatches of cloth over the worn spots and then stitch over them (seed, cross, etc) to provide a new layer of interest while repairing the quilt at the same time? Would you sew right through to the backing material (which is fragile as well)? You’ve really got me thinking!

I’m new to slow stitching was wondering if a skein of embroidery thread is different from embroidery thread for an embroidery machine? What do you use?
