Slpkg is a powerful software package manager that installs, updates, and removes packages on Slackware based systems. It automatically computes dependencies and figures out what things should occur to install packages. Slpkg makes it easier to maintain groups of machines without having to manually update.

I installed from USB, but once I enter root and my password, it never takes me to a desktop of any kind, how do I make this happen? When through the FUll installation from USB

+Mike M Did you run the command "startx" (no quotes) after logging in? Slackware does not boot into the Desktop Environment by default. You can change this yourself by editing the default runlevel from 3 to 4. I personally haven't bothered doing this as I quite like the little quotes you get after logging in. If that doesn't work, the other possibility is that you installed the operating system incorrectly. Perhaps instead of downloading the DVD iso, you just downloaded the first CD iso and installed using that, not noticing that using the CD method requires multiple isos. Just using that first CD will give you a bootable system, but you will not have any desktop environment (as well as many other tools if I'm not mistaken.
