I've had this procedure done. My doctor does one eye at a time, and your eye is numbed with drops, and it really is painless. I just had my 6 week check up and the pressure in that eye went down from 19 with drops twice a day to 13 with drops twice a day. The doctor told me that I can go down to drops just once a day, and when I get the check-up for the second eye that I just had done today, she will see how I'm doing and may consider taking me off the drops completely.
Thank you doctor. Having SLT done to both eyes this Monday. I’m 41 and have has side effects from drops for the last 11 years. My pressures are in 30’s I’m hoping we have some success. Time will tell. Thanks for going over this. Thank that patient for me too!!
@@dr.fatimaqureshi9803 I am in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. I had the procedure done today and I was not prepared for the amount of blurry vision afterwards. I still cannot see properly. Hope tomorrow is better 🙂
I've had this done. It feels kind of odd, and I did get a very faint sting with every laser shot, but it was absolutely no trouble to tolerate it. The lens, when installed on your eye and held in place with your eyelids, is a weird sensation but only moderately uncomfortable.

I heard that it could last up to 5 years maximum (if lucky) and that if successful it could be repeated 2 or 3 times in a lifetime. So in the best case scenario, this could reduce eye pressure for up to 15 years, am I right?
Yes pretty good analysis . Also , if glaucoma drops are needed , we continue treating the patient with that too. Thanks for watching the video . Pls continue to watch more educational videos on this channel and feel free to make any suggestions for more informative videos .
Dr. Fatima, I'm from Brazil and I wish to ask a question, I have ocular hypertension and my doctor recommended I do SLT. But I searched and I found a procedment called MicroPulse Therapy. I could in the future do this procedment after doing SLT?
maam please reply to my question , i am just so tensed , i am 19 yrs old and dr. during regular checkup said that i have glaucoma in my right eye but its not developed there are some evidence i.e he mean to say that its just starting , pls can you tell that can i obercome glaucoma ever in my life ? or i will need to go through surgery and laser in coming future and are there possibilities of me getting blind?
if your Dr. Said he’s monitoring you for glaucoma , let him do that with testing and if he sees any changes that warrant treatment , he will do so . Since you are seeing a doctor and he has all your findings and results , that’s all that can be done .
If you’re glaucoma suspect , you are being monitored without treatment , but with tests . However , if the tests show signs of glaucoma , you become a glaucoma patient and need treatment . That’s my simple definition of suspect vs glaucomatous patient . Hope that helps . Pls don’t forget to subscribe to the channel , like and share too if you got time :))
Hello Doctor, I am 31 yrs old. I am using drops 3x a day. My pressure was 40 in both eyes at the time of diagnosis 1.5 yrs back. Now, the pressure is maintained under 20. Do you recommend SLT that can last at max 15 years with repeated procedures?
@@das1992 hi . Thanks for watching the channel . So glaucoma treatment involves several factors . If SLT is maintaining your IOPs in the normal range and OCT / VF are also stable , then no need to worry in my opinion.
@@dr.fatimaqureshi9803 I want to make sure I understand correctly. Are you saying that there is no need to worry about having to undergo the SLT procedure three times? I'm not trying to question your advice, I just want to make sure I understand for my own peace of mind. Nowadays, it seems like doctors don't always take the time to talk to patients and are always in a rush to see the next patient.
If you’ve never had SLT and your IOPS are under control with the help of glaucoma drops , then it’s all good . If you hate using drops , then yes you can go for SLT . If you don’t like using drops r times a day , your doctor can always change to another class like once a day , but be careful and make sure iops are steady and within normal limit . Also continue he seeing your eye doc every 3-6 months and get all glaucoma tests to make sure nerve fibre layer if not thinning out . I hope that answers your question .
@dr.fatimaqureshi9803 Have you seen one SLT pressure lowering effect lasting a long time like over 30-40 years? I was told that SLTs can last upto 5 years after which its IOP lowering effect starts to wearout requiring repeated procedure.. Asking as I may have nmbeen given the inaccurate info.
Dr Diana my eye pressure is 16 with drops but drops give me very allergy and eyelid become dirty and squinting .but squinting not before starting glaucoma drops please Dr Diana can my drops be reduced or finished by slt.
almost everything in medicine comes with side effects . But that doesn’t mean technology isn’t important . Having said that , these laser procedures are commonly done and recommended for open angle glaucoma. I would advise reading about SLT .
Da saiba please i done glucoma surgery in one eye now pressure is balance but in other eye which is without operation and its pressure is 14 comes but mam somerime pressure of this eye comes 20 and i have also kc in both eyes and i also feel some vidion contraction in that eye can i do slt lazar please tell to establish fluctuates in the pressure please please
Hii Doctor, I had my eye lasik surgery 3 years back and now I had regression of -1.75 number plus my eye pressure is also a little high i.e, 23mmgh. My doctor recommended me timolol/dorzolamide eye drops. After using them for 1 month pressure dropped to 20mmhg. He advised to use eye drops for 2 more months. There are no signs of glaucoma and my optic nerve is healthy. Age is 25. What do you think about this? It would be really kind if you reply
@@dr.fatimaqureshi9803 my doctor did these tests and the results are fine. How to prevent ocular hypertension from converting into glaucoma? Or how to cure ocular hypertension? I’m very much scared
