Sluice embankment of Moscow on the Drainage canal 

The drainage canal (formerly also the Bypass Canal) was laid in 1783-1786 along the central bend of the Moskva River near the Kremlin. Together with the Moskva River, it forms the island of Baltschug. For the first time, the plan of the canal was presented in the "Projected Plan" of 1775, drawn up by P. N. Kozhin and N. N. Legrand.
