I think I finally understand. It's about quality. So like, a slut will sleep with anyone and a player just sleep with people they want. This makes so much sense.
People say it's a double standard, but really, it's not. It takes no effort for a woman to have sex with many men. If an ugly woman went to a bar, and shouted "I want sex," there would be a lineup of men around the block ready to go. A very good looking guy can go out and shout the exact same thing, and will be lucky if he doesn't get slapped in the face. For a woman to brag about having many sexual partners is like bragging about beating up a 5 year old. On the other hand, men have to "crack the code" to successfully attract many women to the point of having sex. For men, it's more like winning a fight against someone who is bigger than you. It is difficult, but far from unattainable. You wouldn't pat someone on the back with respect and say "nice fight" for knocking a toddler on their ass. But you absolutely would for someone who wins a fight against a worthy opponent. Don't get me wrong, I totally disapprove of "slut" shaming, and I don't care in the slightest if a woman wants to be sexually liberated, and sleeps with every man in sight. But just know, that it's not a challenge the way it is for a man, and for that reason, it is absolutely not a double standard.
It's not about that tho. And that says more about men than it does about women. It's about the fact that guys can sleep around and face no judgement and a girl can do the same and be labelled a slut. So because the guy went threw more trouble it's acceptable? That doesn't make much sense to me.

I love this video! Slutshaming really sucks and it's great that you incorporate different opinions and such, even though the people who say that being a slut is worse than being a player don't really have any arguments. It's just a result of female sexuality being a tabu for so long. Also it's interesting to see how so many people just automatically connected the word "slut" to a female and "player" to a male.
Yes, a male can be a slut, and a female can be a player too. Slutshaming is completely fine. Sluts are usually referred to people dressing like a pervert, which is what a lot of women do when they call it fashion. Transparent shirts to show their bras and tits, clevage, shorts that cuts into your ass, etc.. That is considererd cheap and called slutty. Most men don't do that, that's why mostly women fall under it. A player is someone manipulating others for sex, naive teenagers/young adults or other desperate people are usually the victims. Being a player requires a lot more effort, good looks, a good game, patience etc. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but there are differences, and there are obvious reasons for why most sluts are women, and players are pretty balanced between men and women.

Most of the time it is indeed the guy doing the pursuing. Apart from social norms there's really nothing stopping a women from approaching but it's definitely a lot more rare of an occurrence. Ask around and see how often the average man gets approached, the answer is very little and for some maybe never. Compare that to the amount of times even a below average looking woman gets approached or pursued, the difference is quite drastic. The double standard exists because the playing field for men and women is not equal. It's definitely a lot easier for a woman to sleep around than it is for a man.
For me, the difference between a player and a slut is sex. Players (both men and women) are people who date a lot of people. Sluts (again both men and women) are people who have sex with a lot of people. This is the definition people should adopt, in my opinion. But what do I know, I'm just a man.
Remember the movie 'Deliver us from Eva'? LL Cool J's character in that was a player, according to my understanding. So my thought would be that a player is someone who see's women as a challenge, that is, just to sleep with them but not get emotionally attached. I don't think there really is a female equivalent, at least not in American culture because the vast majority of so called men in this culture are not really that much of a challenge to get into bed. A slut, on the other hand, seems more like a nympho, or maybe it just seems that way because most women tend to be somewhat more particular about who they sleep with, whereas a slut is not.

It is different because it's actually a lot easier for a woman to sleep around than it is for a man. I think it's a hard concept for women to grasp because they seem believe the dating experience is similar for men and women, it's not. First of all, usually the man has to approach and pursue the woman and make her comfortable enough to sleep with him. A man could be actively approaching various women and still get shot down dozens of times without even getting a number. All a woman has to do is filter out the suitors that she's interested in. Men very rarely get approached if ever. If a man isn't actively pursuing, then chances are he's not getting any.
Only problem with players and sluts is its harder for them to be trusted in a real relationship, theyre so used to always talking to other girls/guys that they are almost never "loyal" which is where i think the problem comes in at. Like if a girl sleeps with a lot of guys ALL THE TIME (cause there is a difference between having slept with a bunch of guys occasionally cause everyone has needs and just sleeping with guys everytime you go out lol) i could care less but i dont think i could get myself to date them. To me, being a slut is just as bad as being a player. According to what I hear, being a slut is labelled as a girl sleeping around with many guys. Being a player would be the same, but reversed gender, meaning that it is a man sleeping around with many women. And, if anyone were to ask me if I'd have a preference (no matter what my gender is), I would say neither. Those are only labels that have been used in a derogative way to insult people of their behaviours. If that person is pleased with their way of living, let them be. You might not like that behaviour, but there is no need to give a label to that individual.

I was only describing why society views the inequality of these terms as such, not making statistical statements as it seems you understood it to be. Both words mean the same thing and can be used for either sex(not that I encourage it, I'm just saying). I think being a "player" is considered a good thing ONLY for guys. Generally, its much more difficult for men to have multiple sexual partners than it is for women. Of course for all generalizations there will be some exceptions. Also take to account that all through out time it was always men who have done the chasing. Reason why a guy can bang 5 chicks in one week and will barely get any backlash. But for a lot of people it isn't considered ladylike for a woman to seek sex, or at least be open about it. Probably why a girl who has many sexual partners will be looked down upon. It's a double standard. The two concepts are synonymous, only difference is that girls get Shamed for enjoying the same freedoms as "players".
