They should implement a rule against doing the same trick (tips under 270) 4 times with slightly different variations. Would’ve been an entirely different game
I think no matter how this one turned out I would have been bummed for the loser. Both skiers are unbelievable. Fun seeing these guys getting competitive with the trick calls.
ngl Kura should’ve won on that on tail but 7 to pop Cody’s tails touched twice in the air but then kura gets called for not clearing the jump on nb 1 and loses??? Bad ref if u ask me
Best game yet, props to Cody! But it hurts that Kuura isnt going to the knuckle huck. Hes like the perfect guy for it. Probably a future knuckle huck winner.
Controversial but it's refreshing seeing a competitive game. Some serious strategy here with the set, both skiers wanting to win. Not that I don't appreciate a friendly game... but dope to see some seriously challenging tricks.
Totally agree with this- there is strategy involved even in a friendly game! All it does is make the other guy better for trying something new or uncomfortable. That feeling of "dogg I've never tried this" is the essence of our sport. Whatta game and both showed up in big ways
very proper nosebutters form cody and nice to see setting tips under 2 to backslide after kuura barely clearing the first tips under 2 and not clearing the 2 on backslide. also the bs fs bs to sw was proper enough compared to cody's surfaceswaps
Absolutely was Tokyo drift, you can’t even clearly see nose pressure and he stopped the rotation before getting to the lip. That ending was a bummer for me
Probably a bit biased 'cause I'm Finnish but i think Codys first bs in the long tube was more a 270 in or a back surface and Kuura did a way better nosebutter than Cody, his was more like a tokyo drift than nosebutter.
So much controversy in the comments... so it must be a great game!! Big ups to slvsh for making this the most rider friendly event in the world! Both boys killed it!
I think its a bit weird when the tricks get too unique, and it's just a mindfuck for the other skier to figure out what to do. I feel like both these guys did that, so fair play, but especially Kuura got real specific with the details too many times, and got a bunch of letters on Cody in a jiffy. It reminds me of that time Vinny Gagnier beat Siver Voll by doing things only Vinnie can do... That said, this was some fantastic skiing. Sad to see Kuura go!
They both went for the jugular. Tips under is relatively new to me, and I don’t love the way it looks. But looks tricky and a lot of people struggle with it. All the tail drags and bonks seem a little out of hand. We might see sets in the future like ‘one eye shut, tail bonk, no knee bend disaster’ The creativity is cool in a way but take it too far and you get too cheesy I do think they need to put some boundaries on what can be set and what can’t. Like reverts, or 180 after landing. Perhaps even nose under or tails under. I understand calling out lip on, but controlling all the other manner in which you get to the rail is taking it too far, especially when it makes a trick look way clunkier Oh- the other thing I think is too far is calling out every possible way of interacting with obstacle. Slide to end of rail I’m fine with, but ‘clear the landing’ nah. By that logic you can say ‘180 but you have to case it’ - what are we doing at that point? This is a new development and I’m all for it. I think they will tighten up rules next year
