I’m really curious to know more about this radical change in Carmelita’s design, because if she always was meant to be a love interest for Sly, it’d be a tough sell for players to believe that Sly’s head over heels for the one person that’s relentlessly trying to put him behind bars for life.
I like Carmelita's white top and bell bottom jeans- maybe if they gave her the final face + iconic ponytail this design would have worked just as well.
Well if you dig deeper enough (unless you want a to look for the iceberg development ) panda king world was originally meant as the first level that had most of the missions you get to learn before going the rest of the villain’s before clockwork as means of finalize the game but that was scrap and change it in order where rolly (frog) had to be first in order while the rest of the world get their own mission as you learn to use in helping pass the area and of course Murrey place in a quick idea to add some race/run up to use him in each world (not all)
Just wanted to say thank you for documenting all of this for us to watch! So cool to see some of the early design elements in action where before we only had the behind the scenes vids on the games themselves. Particular shout out to the photographer save points and the "para-LY-sing punch" which I feel like was joked about in an interview 😂 I appreciate how dedicated you are to putting basically all of the sly cooper games on RU-vid so consistently and thoroughly 😁

I came here and I never played any sly cooper but II love that the prototype is close to normal version tbh with gameplay from the looks of it and most of the ideas were kept in check
the music at Gunboat Graveyard was amazing. It seems that this level is one of the few with big differences from the final version. at least in the Raleigh area
Wow! I absolutely love and respect so much the beta content of the game! I actually love the police hq theme in this prototype more than the final result! I think it is the theme that what used in sir Raleigh's episode hub! "Prowling the grounds"? The dialogue differs just by pitches. But Carmelita's original voice was trying SO hard to sound like a mix of Spanish/Italian accent 😂🤣😂 happy they changed it along the way. They got it right in sly 3!
they were reporters, alledgedly. i think it makes more in universe sense than the final version of checkpoints, but i can see the objects they hide in being easier to miss at a distance.
I’m loving this prototype version. I’m glad they changed Murray’s voice. The lady popping out of the chest/trunk to take a picture is really cute and creative. This version of Carmelita as well as her voice is adorable. Ngl, I’m glad they changed them though. I cannot wait to watch the other videos.
I also noticed that the checkpoints in the prototype were just a cat woman taking pictures of Sly after she popped out of a treasure chest. I’ve also noticed that the Walrus Guards are purple and Sir Raleigh is looking a bit pale.
Good lord, Beta Raleigh is so cursed. 😆 I remember seeing him in the manual and thinking he was creepy. You can see some of the thought processes regarding a few little ideas: The rolled-up Clues zooming up to the top-right corner once the bottles are broken are a bit distracting (I thought they were projectile bones for a minute); the the redundant 'filters' for the Binoc-u-com (why would you ever turn these off?); the boss health meters 'descending' faces indicating the status as you beat them up. Visually interesting, but it doesn't read well that Sly is being effective against a boss. *Gunboat Graveyard's* lack of verticality compared to the final version is a bit jarring. It's so linear and the dense clue bottle placement is actually kind of funny. I'm really curious to see how different _The Cold Heart of Hate_ is going to be when you reach it.
"You can use your Binocucom to look for bottles" CooperCurse who already knows where all the bottles are: "I have no such weakness" also glad they changed Raleigh's eyes in the final product, the prototypes eyes were just so out of place with the art style of the game
Something I found funny here is that Murray sounds somewhat zesty, and the funny thing is that Sucker punch had asked the VA in the booth to sound somewhat homosexual 😂
