Keeping the fader at the max position is common on some mixers and workflows. Especially the way Scientist mixes dub music. It is easier to pull the fader all the way down to mute a track and push (or flick, as scientist does) it all the way back to the top to bring it back. If the tracks normal volume is at unity on the fader, then it becomes much more taxing to quickly flick the fader back up to the correct volume. One love.
