Side by side comparison between the HD remaster for PS3 and the PS2 emulation on PS5 of the game Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, released in 2002 for Playstation 2. Support the channel: ko-fi.com/neog... / neogamertvga
Actually kind of jarring how much the PS3 remaster butchers the original game's visuals. The intro where Sly is supposed to be clad in shadows simply doesn't work on PS3 at all, and the blur was completely eliminated for no reason. I like how the new version preserves the PS2 visuals better.
@MiguelRodriguez-lp9et i play ps3 emulator on my legion go and It's not much better in cpu power. People emulate ps3 with steamdeck too. The ps5 cpu imo is strong enough to emulate ps3. I seen people emulate ps3 with ryzen 3600 and it runs ok. The ps5 is supposedly similar to the 3600 if not more efficient.
@st4r444 Games that really pushed the ps3 to its limits, like killzone 2/3, the last of us, uncharted 2/3, God of war Ascension are nowhere near playable.
what's funny is that since the sly collection is streamable on ps plus, there's technically two vesions of sly cooper 1 on ps4/ps5! that's far from the first time it's happened for playstation backwards compatibility (or even xbox backwards compatibility!) but it's always amusing when it happens
i live in Brazil, PS Plus Cloud Gaming is not avaliable here, people from Australia also can't stream it, so for us, big countries, no cloud avaliability, for us this is the first and only Sly game playable on PS4/5
What I love about Sly Cooper is that there’s no half way fans. You play one, you’ve played them all and you’re Cooper Gang for life💯 what we need is a full on remake
So people really are just complaining about resolution and saying the PS3 version is better? I find the effects rendering properly way more important, it's not even close. It's actually important to the artistic integrity too. If I really cared about it I'd get an mClassic/mCable or Upscaler and then there's no downsides to the PS5 version at that point. Is there more to it that I'm missing?
It is hard to say with one is the best. The PS3 looks way better on the modern TV but there is some lacks in this version that are obiously not in the PS5 version since it is the PS2 version. At the intro, sly isn’t in dark in the PS3, alors the sell shading effect on the models looks attenuated, and there is a few dialog bugs…
@@MProductionsGAMINGthankfully, the team Sony outsourced to for PS1/2/P games are working on the speed unlike Sanzaru who just don’t patch the PS3 version.
Why does the PlayStation 3 emulator have the graphics more clean but it's missing some of the aesthetics from the actual game and from the PlayStation 5 it gets every aesthetic from the game in there except the graphics are a bit choppy? Can they just use the graphics on the left side and shifted to PlayStation 5 and still have the shadow affect overlay of Sly revealing from the light?
The PS3 version isn't emulated, it's a full remaster along with the other 2 in the collection but with a handful of things being messed up. But the PS5 version is actually an emulation of the original PS2 version it's truest form without any visual upgrades, so it still keeps the 4:3, 480p resolution. And the only extra things you get are a rewind function and some new screen filters.
That was my first thought, but then - Sly is a game about a stealthy thief, about shadows and darkness; it kinda fits with the vibe to have things a bit harder to be seen...
@@ELEKTROSKANSENhard disagree there it looks blurry as hell. They could have easily ported the PS3 version it looks amazing on my Pc when I emulate the PS3 version why would anyone bother buying this if anything this will just tell Sony no one wants it cuz the majority of fans won't buy it
@@madaraman27 I will not disagree back, just present an opposite opinion. I know majority of players will reject it, I'm the minority that prefers to play it with blurry graphics on an old CRT tv because to me it feels more in line with the original intention of the dev. PS3 version is so clean that it looks "wrong" to me. Everyone is free to get the PS3 version if the prefer it, though, so luckily we're both covered!
@@Number1Tailsfan I emulate the PS3 version and it looks great. I'm upset because it should be more widely available because it's an amazing franchise and not have this blurry ugly version that makes it look bad in retrospect
